About

“Stand to attention soldiers! We are looking a harsh new reality right down the barrel - the world is a post apocalyptic nightmare, all that’s left of humanity is pockets of survivors and organised military bases like ourselves. We prepared for this situation, the necessary equipment and resources were stockpiled long ago, knowing it was only a matter of 'when' and not 'if'. But we have a plan, an ambitious plan to wipe this zombie scourge from the face of the planet.
The enemy are no longer human, they are no longer your parents, siblings or friends, they are an organism of pure evil that seeks only to spread, mutate and destroy - its foul stench must be eliminated at any cost! We are looking for five volunteers to execute this plan - five soldiers to step up for what is almost certainly a suicide mission; which of you have the bravery and skills to get out there and meet this challenge face to ugly rotting face?"
- General Johnson, CURE HQ.

Nota 2.5/10
Codename CURE II, developed by Raptor Byte and published by indie.io, expands upon the ideas of the original game by delivering a cooperative zombie shooter that values teamwork, preparation, and tactical decision-making over nonstop chaos. Set in a world where humanity is struggling to reclaim territory from a relentless undead outbreak, players become members of an elite military task force assigned to complete dangerous operations across infected zones. Rather than relying on a traditional story campaign, the game emphasizes repeatable missions and evolving combat scenarios that encourage players to refine their strategies with every deployment. This approach makes the experience feel more like an ongoing military operation than a scripted adventure, giving the game a distinctive identity within the crowded zombie shooter genre. The heart of the experience is its cooperative gameplay, where squads of up to five players must rely on one another's strengths to survive increasingly dangerous encounters. A selection of specialized classes allows each player to fulfill a unique battlefield role, whether providing suppressing fire, eliminating distant threats, repairing equipment, or leading the charge into enemy territory. The different abilities and weapon preferences encourage balanced team compositions instead of having every player perform the same function. Those who prefer to play alone are not left behind either, as AI-controlled teammates help maintain the cooperative structure without requiring a full online squad. This flexibility makes the game approachable for solo players while still rewarding coordinated multiplayer sessions. One of the most appealing aspects of Codename CURE II is its emphasis on replayability. Instead of sending players through identical maps every time, missions take place within procedurally generated environments built from modular sections, ensuring that layouts and objectives rarely unfold the same way twice. This design keeps players adapting to new situations instead of memorizing routes, while randomized objectives add further variety to each operation. Resource gathering also becomes an important part of every mission, encouraging careful exploration and thoughtful use of supplies rather than reckless advancement. The result is a gameplay loop that balances action with tactical resource management, making every successful extraction feel earned. Combat remains consistently engaging thanks to a healthy mix of enemy types that force players to stay alert. Standard infected are joined by more dangerous foes, including mutated creatures and infected military units that require different tactics to defeat efficiently. The game's advanced gore system adds an extra layer of visual impact, featuring realistic dismemberment, persistent damage effects, and environmental destruction that reinforce the intensity of every firefight. Combined with an arsenal of customizable firearms and equipment, battles feel satisfying and appropriately brutal without becoming excessively exaggerated. The headquarters system between missions further supports progression by allowing players to unlock new gear, modify loadouts, customize their appearance, and prepare for increasingly difficult operations. Presentation also contributes to the game's atmosphere. The environments embrace a grounded military aesthetic, emphasizing abandoned locations, realistic weapon designs, and a bleak post-apocalyptic setting instead of relying solely on horror elements. Character customization provides numerous cosmetic options that allow players to personalize their soldiers, while the game's accessibility is strengthened by modest system requirements and support for both online and offline play. Steam Achievements, cloud saves, and planned additional content suggest a strong foundation for long-term support, particularly if the developers continue expanding mission variety and gameplay systems after launch. Although Codename CURE II introduces numerous features designed to keep players engaged, its procedural structure may not appeal to everyone. Those seeking a deeply narrative-driven campaign with memorable scripted moments could find the mission-focused design less emotionally engaging than story-heavy zombie adventures. Likewise, the long-term appeal will depend heavily on continued updates, balance improvements, and an active player community to fully realize its cooperative potential. Nevertheless, the core systems already demonstrate considerable promise, offering a satisfying blend of teamwork, customization, progression, and replayability that stands out among modern cooperative shooters. Codename CURE II succeeds by refining familiar zombie shooter mechanics into a more tactical and replay-oriented experience. Its combination of specialized classes, dynamic missions, procedural environments, meaningful progression, and rewarding cooperative gameplay creates a strong foundation that encourages players to return for one more mission. While it does not completely reinvent the genre, it confidently builds upon proven ideas with enough depth and variety to remain engaging over the long term. Rating: 8/10
