Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 22: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Chrono Cross on steam. Whilst it has mixed reviews due to mostly pc specific issues (which are indeed worthy of mention) just having the ability to play this game without emulation is a massive win. Never seeing a release in the UK until this very remaster, Chrono Cross seems to be more a cult classic rather than a legendary masterpiece like it's predecessor. It lacks a lot of what made the previous game special and the legendary three who worked on Chrono Trigger (Hironobu Sakaguchi, Yuji Horii and Akira Toriyama) did not return. It saw critical acclaim at the time and sold well but did fall into obscurity and niche status. In the UK the only people I know who are aware of this game are the one's heavily invested in JRPGs as a whole. Time also hasn't been kind with the general fan conseunes being mixed, well the only opinion on a game that matters to me is my own and I have to say...it's pretty bad. Ok, maybe it's not that bad. It is definitely a bad Chrono Trigger sequel, it completely destroys all the lore and absolutely annihilates the character's endings from Chrono Trigger (no spoilers but think Alien 3) and I don't really understand why they did this. There is also incredibly tedious links back to the orignal with some connections being so tenuous that I struggle to comprehend the decisions that went into this game. Despite only being 20 years after the events of Chrono Trigger, Cross feels like a completely different world, the technology doesn't seem consistent, there seems to be more tribes and it basically feels like technology has regressed which we know doesn't happen in Chrono Trigger? Unless I'm mistaken but basically the world building and art design takes a massive hit in favour of more generic JRPG-ness which isn't bad by itself but considering how strong the previous game was, it just feels like a misunderstanding of the original. Ok fine, bad sequel but good game by itself right? Well...no. look, this game is well regarded and has a cult following and also reviewed well at the time but for me personally it's just too much, the 45 party members, the nonsense story, that absolutely insane lore dumps at the end and the combat. Combat is pretty much like everything else wrong with this game, on the surface it seems fine but when you dig into it you find that it's just overcomplicated for the sake of it. It's radically different from Trigger despite still being turn based. Physical attacks can hit multiple times with different strengths but also higher chances to miss if you use a stronger attack, the playing field changes colours to match certain elements that are being cast and spells are finite in combat, there is no MP but there is stamina and really it just feels like it's doing too much and I did not enjoy this system. Essentially this game ia hard carried by it's impeccable soundtrack, somewhat interesting set up as you shift between two parallel worlds and its insane roster of playable characters, the story whilst initially interesting is way too convoluted, it's also hard to ignore this as a sequel when the game is constantly acknowledging the events of Trigger. Look, if you just enjoy JRPGs as a genre then you will probably like this, but as someone who absolutely adores Chrono Trigger just purely as a game more than it being just a JPRG I feel Chrono Cross is actually just pretty bad. If Chrono Trigger was a mega blockbuster, Chrono Cross is direct to video.
Garbage. Chrono Trigger was a masterpiece. If you're expecting that here, you're in for a bad time. Best to pretend this doesn't exist.
Square Enix & Steam = Peace of ♥♥♥♥ Corporations Nicht kaufen -> Nur Abstürze und unspielbar Seit FFXIII ist Square Enix tot für mich. Drecks Firma
Port is working now. Only had it crash like once or twice throughout all my playthroughs. Didn't need any modifications either.
This is a low effort remake made based on an emulator playing the game, Square-Enix didn't even try. But I do love Chrono Cross as much as I love Chrono Trigger. It's worth 8 dollars and I will beat it again to celebrate the golden era of SQUARESOFT.
