A horrifyingly accurate but also extremely cute representation of working in "the new normal" :)
Love seeing roleplaying games that focus on the storytelling over frantic button-pushing. Don't let the initial simplicity fool you! It's flavored with nuance and the Discord/Slack vibe of the interface started cranking up DMs with enough speed that I had a quick flash of Monday morning work conferences, haha. Fantastic work by a small indie studio-- clearly a labor of love and I loved it! Will be back to finish!
"Trigger warning" for Techies and general corporate America, this game is chock-full of hilarious characters and subtle digs that may feel all-too anecdotal to your career. With varying paths to follow and unlock throughout the game, it has great replay value as well! I think my average play time was just over an hour, and I dove right back in after completion. Well worth the $3 price tag. Good luck unlocking that egg plant!

I’ll be honest, a lot of the reviews are from folks with 5-6 hours of play time and one review… seems paid for? But here’s an honest review of the game. Chief Emoji Officer is a satirical game based on a tech company seeking the next big breakthrough, likely in Silicon Valley. The story is funny and entertaining and worth a read. The characters are all a bit crazy and stereotypical but fun, nonetheless. I loved how casual the game was, perfect not to think too hard (pick an emoji!). Where the game got frustrating was figuring out how to get the third promotion early on, since you are supposed to get promoted every other chapter. My first session I played for 45 min and couldn’t figure it out so I put it down and came back a few days later. I tried some different emojis and “cracked the code”, so to speak, and was able to complete the game. After multiple playthroughs, I’ve only got 1.3 hours of play time, so these other reviewers must have left the game open for some time. Overall the game is pretty short but certainly worth full price at $3. If you’re looking for 1h:$1, you might wait for a sale. The concept of this game (emojis only) was what caught my attention and certainly kept it. I wish the pauses between the dialogue was shorter. I enjoyed the side romance story too. I may come back if a guide is made to 100% achievements
Anyone who has worked at a tech startup will find this game equal parts triggering and validating. Even without completing all the emoji unlocks, it's worth the gripping story and grand finale. Recommended!
If you live on Slack/Discord for work, this game will feel right at home. There's a ton of branching paths as you navigate your way up the corporate ladder. I very much enjoyed my time with the game and I'm looking forward to going through a few more times to unlock everything.
Chief Emoji Officer is the tech office-themed strategy game you didn't know you needed. It has everything a real office has, conflict! lies! romance! manipulation! All the fun of politicking with MBAs who are as pleasant as they are backstabbing, with none of the risk! Very replayable. At only a few dollars, it's much cheaper than therapy, and potentially as effective. Highly recommend.
Funny satire game that's pretty unique! Cute artwork and characters that have a lot of personality, even just for text. If you're on the fence, might as well spend a few hours playing considering the small price An interesting look into the tech world and a great story
With enough Gaslighting, Gatekeeping, and Girlbossing you too can sleep your way to the TOP
Strangely familiar scenarios from a previous workplace. :) Well done!
