It’s chess with some very pretty graphics and VR support, but at the end of the day, it's just regular chess. The menus are clean and the online matchmaking works, though finding a populated lobby can sometimes take longer than expected. Unless you desperately need fancy lighting and shiny boards for your matches, you're better off playing for free elsewhere.

Una lastima que no haya muchos jugadores online, es un gran juego y muy detallado. Si te gusta el Ajedrez sabrás que con un tablero y las piezas eres feliz. No hacen falta muchas funciones para divertirte. El juego cumple con creces. Animo a la comunidad a revivirlo y hacer torneos!

Graphics are worse than browser games such as Lichess and the services the game provides are just lesser, there is not a single advantage to the game. Just use lichess.

I highly recommend this game simply because I like it very much. Yes, essentially, it's that simple. That said, please do not mistake this game for a professional tool to practice chess. It is essentially chess wrapped in eye candy. The lack of certain features can be quite frustrating. One of my biggest disappointments is the inability to set up your own positions. I honestly do not understand this design choice; every modern chess game should include this feature or, at the very least, allow players to import PGNs. While the game is beautiful, it is also very casual. Some might find its gameplay limitations to be a deal-breaker, but I have come to enjoy it enough to overlook them and give it a recommendation. Inside, you will find interesting mate problems, practice challenges, and delightful, realistic scenarios. The soundtrack is calm and soft, offering a relaxing experience with classical pieces like Franz Schubert's Ave Maria. For online play, you will need some patience. Finding an opponent in blitz usually takes about 2 to 3 minutes, but other time controls are far less popular, making matchmaking difficult. In summary, Chess Ultra is a beautiful game, but ultimately too casual and limited for serious analysis.
