Catio Simulator

The game is incredibly cute. It has beautiful hand-drawn visuals, charming animations, and adorable interactions with the cats. So why is the review negative? Simply because the game currently lacks content. I reached essentially everything it has to offer in about three hours, and that is far too short, even for a game this charming. The biggest problem is the lack of a meaningful end game. By the time you unlock the fanciest patio and start attracting the opulent cats, you can end up sitting on trillions of cash with practically nothing worthwhile left to spend it on. There need to be more end-game upgrades, money sinks, particularly auto petting and petting per click upgrades so that Opulent cats don't take minutes of clicking just to fill the petting bar. It makes no sense to spend all that time building a beautiful patio that attracts the rarest cats, only to receive almost no meaningful reward for reaching that point. The opulent cats also take a ridiculous amount of repetitive petting before you can adopt even one of them. The common cats are manageable, but the rare ones turn the process into a grind without giving you anything useful to work toward. As much as I love the aesthetic, I cannot recommend the game in its current state. Three hours of content is simply not enough. I genuinely hope the developer continues updating it, because the foundation is lovely. More upgrades, better uses for late-game money, and some form of meaningful end-game progression could turn it into something to highly recommend. Right now, reaching the end game does not feel particularly rewarding.

This game is really, REALLY cute and that is not something I will take away from it. The gameplay loop is satisfying and the mechanics are intuitive. On paper it is everything you want from an idle game - for a few hours, and then it kind of becomes a screensaver. A really cute screensaver, but not one I can justify the current price point for with the level of content it currently has. Hopefully the developer will build on the foundation that is there and add some meaningful late game upgrades; after a certain point I just left my laptop running and went off and about my life because the only thing I had left to do was wait for the cats I was missing to show up for the final achievement. I completed all but that one in the first 4 hours of owning the game, and the other 40 so hours on my account are literally just from leaving it open and not looking at it once... and while I love an idle number go up game, I prefer my idle number go up games to need just a little bit more input from me. Times like this I wish I could give a 'for the right person, maybe' review, and I really do hope that future updates will bring more to the table.

Catio Simulator pleasantly surprised me because I'm not really a cat person but the game runs in a money gain/business kind of way while people who do like cats can pet away and love them... Its probably a game that would have passed me by but now I want to finish it which I didn't expect, Attract cats to your Catio, build a better space for them then adopt them out for better petting power... Catio Will drag you in and before you know it the cats will be ruling your life just like IRL! Thankyou for the key the game is amazing and I'll be pushing to try finish it 💚💙

I can appreciate an addicting cat game

Saw an ad for this game on Reddit of all places and have bookmarked it ever since! It's such a cute and comfy little gem! Highly recommend! :)

🐈 If you love cats, don't buy this game. Seriously. Close Steam, go pet your cat instead. You'll have a much better time. This game shows you pretty much everything it has to offer within the first hour. After that? Congratulations, you've unlocked the Idle Simulator. The remaining hours are just mindlessly waiting around to grind the last achievement. The cats are cute. That's about where the positives end. Verdict: Save your money, save your time, and give your real cat some attention instead. Not recommended.

Spent far too much time playing already, as I have 11/15 achievements (oops). I'd love more decor and expansions, but the game is genuinely adorable and great. 11/10

A delightful incremental game with great art and music! More than worth the price of admission.
