About
Collect awesome monsters to use during turn-based battles in this open-world RPG. Combine any two monster forms using Cassette Beasts’ Fusion System to create unique and powerful new ones!
Welcome to New Wirral, a remote island inhabited by strange creatures you’ve only dreamed of, nightmares you hopefully haven’t, and a cast of brave folks who use cassette tapes to transform for battle. To find a way home you’ll need to explore every inch of the island, and record monsters to your trusty cassette tapes to gain their abilities!
Faced with the constant threat of monster attacks, the residents of Harbourtown, New Wirral choose to fight fire with fire. Record a monster to tape, then play it back to take on its form for battle!
Getting close to your companion has benefits–while transformed you can combine your strengths to gain the upper hand in battle! Any two monster forms can be fused to produce unique, fully-animated new fusion forms.
Certain monster abilities can be used in human form. You’ll need these to help you get around, solve puzzles, and locate dungeons. Glide, fly, swim, climb, dash, or turn magnetic! Take on the Gauntlet – a never-ending battle mode where you’ll face fearsome enemies for precious material and glory!

Never fight alone! Form bonds, spend time together, and help your selected partner complete personal goals to become a better team. The strength of your relationship determines how well you’re able to fuse!

Reviews
this game the goat
Just beat carriage 150 of the Gauntlet, so leaving a review. (Note: I don't have DLC) Disappointment with the stagnancy of Pokemon has led me to the indie scene of monster tamers, and Cassette Beasts impressed me. The element system granting buffs/debuffs added a new layer to combat besides "number go up/down". Double battles being the standard was also nice, made support units more useful. Movesets are easy to modify using the sticker system. Levels are locked to the character, not the beast, so not much individual grinding. Overall the combat was an improvement over what I have been used to. Story is ok. Ending feels a bit rushed. Postgame makes for a better canon ending but requires you to beat the game to unlock it, so some minor ludo-narrative dissonance there. The villainous team analog basically being hyper-capitalist landlords and real-estate types was a chuckle. I found the characters charming. Extra dialogue/conversations run out and loop if you play long enough, which somewhat dampened my appreciation of them. Romance is available. Queer friendly. I like the music. Sprite art is nice. As for cons, animations can get lengthy and you can't really skip them. This does get irritating especially with some automated combo type passives and/or psuedo-infinite combos. Overworld is a bit clunky earlygame until you get more movement passives. Sticker/moveset management gets annoying lategame as you can't search by attribute. Overall I think this is worth the asking price. My complaints are outweighed by my enjoyment. Gamefreak take notes.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

One of the best creature collectors out there
Wonderful music and gameplay. This is a great game to play when you want a good mix of puzzle and creature-collector.
Good game. Nice friends and beasts.
Great soundtrack that comes with a game. Maybe it's because I'm a hardcore Pokemon fan but wow, the thrill of excitement upon finding a new critter is something I have really missed. The fusion mechanic feels a little underwhelming sometimes but it is a nice little roleplaying moment with the companions. The art style of the overworld put me off at first but it starts to feel very cosy, which isn't something I expected but it wrapped me in. I believe someone is working on a kaizo version of the game in the steam workshop, because of course this game supports fan mods. Great characters, great themes, thoughtful type interactions, stellar soundtrack. I get the impression that the developers are very passionate. A sequel has been announced and I can only hope it is as good as the original.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love this game
A very fun game, loved the story, loved the characters, LOVED the monsters.
Si vous aimez pokemon vrm jouez y, les musiques, les monstres, les persos, TOUT est bien et vrm si vous hésitez, prennez le vrm un 10/10 j'att le suite avec impatience
