About
The legendary Carmageddon engine roars back to life, as a spin-off for a new era of vehicular combat.
The year is 2050, and the world you know is a post‑apocalyptic wasteland.
Hordes of nightmare creatures, the Wasted, lay siege to humanity. Every night, the streets are overrun, forcing everyone to barricade themselves in their skyscraper-homes for survival.
There is just one chance to escape all this: the Carmageddon.
These deadly races promise power, prestige, and valuable prizes to the participants. Most importantly, the champion wins the right to attempt the perilous journey that leads to the spaceport beyond the mountains. The only one left, the only chance to flee this dying world.
You enter the Carmageddon as one of countless racers, equipped with little more than a rust bucket, scavenged fuel, and a makeshift weapon. You'll face off against rival gangs like the Autoscum and other rogues in a fight for survival. Each destruction race is an opportunity to win parts and upgrades, a step towards the ultimate escape.
As the night descends, the Wasted take the streets, and you with them.
The original Carmageddon spirit of vehicular mayhem has been refined and redesigned. We looked at the past and the present to create a visceral, fast and accessible form of combat racing.
• 15 upgradeable vehicles – FWD, RWD & AWD, each with unique weight and suspension
• Metal‑on‑metal car combat – crash, shove, boost and side‑bash rivals
• 13 weapon classes – from shotguns to railguns, all fully upgradable
• 80+ perks – craft outrageous synergies for destruction racing supremacy
• Dynamic weather & day‑night cycle – rain slicks the tarmac, fog shrouds ambushes
• Elite & Boss events – colossal war‑rigs, corrupted Enforcers, and endless zombie hordes
• Extensive visual damage model - windshields, hood, doors, bumpers and trunk lid will bend, crumple, hang and detach.
Every Campaign run offers a unique journey through a randomly generated graph.
Win Events and smash opponents to gain Credits. Maneuvers such as killing Wasteds, drifts, jumps, and flicks also grant rewards.
Strategically plan your route so you can reach Shops. In these safe havens you can repair your car, swap weapons, or install one of the 80+ unlockable perks.
Adapt to the dynamically increasing difficulty and conquer elite events and bosses.
With branching paths, varied objectives, and ever-changing time-of-day and weather conditions, no two runs are the same.
But the Carmageddon ain’t over when your vehicle is wrecked. Another driver will step up, and the challenge will resume anew, in a typical roguelite loop. Earn Beatcoins to unlock permanent bonuses and new content between runs in the Black Market. Find synergies between these elements to create the ultimate killing machine: the Carmageddon never ends
The Carmageddon hosts a diverse assembly of marauders, rejects, and lowlifes. Some prefer to rush in front of the pack. Others will chase you and try to bash you out of the way. Some will wait for the chance to unload their weapons into your car. Some are more skilled or better prepared than others. You may recognize some familiar names in the crowd.
Corrupt police forces known as the Enforcers impose their brutal rules on those spared from mutation. The Enforcers will force you off the road to strip your car for spare parts and ammo, if you let them.
Each area of the city is controlled by a particularly fierce opponent, commonly known as “the Boss”. These are the biggest, baddest, fastest, more armed vehicles that you can find. The rules of the Carmageddon demand that you beat each Boss before advancing to the next stage.
Every race is a brutal test of skill, demanding you master driving, melee, and ranged attacks against a diverse and unpredictable roster of foes. To do so, you must work on your car, find upgrades and weapons that combine well together, and consistently perform behind the wheel.
The Third World War and a series of devastating natural disasters left Earth in ruins. Amidst the chaos, a food supplement called MiVis was introduced to address food shortages, and became a ubiquitous part of daily life.
However, long-term consumption of MiVis led to a horrific cellular mutation, transforming people into Wasted - monstrous, empty husks consumed by the supplement's side effects.
Now, they have become a mass of unsentient, super-aggressive beings that threaten survivors as soon as the sun starts to set.
A lone Wasted is no match for your chariot of fury. Things start to heat up when more Wasteds show up. Boost into the hordes of humanoid husks swarming the track, parting the waves of Wasted like a Moses on wheels! But be careful not to get stuck in the high tide: too many Wasteds will surround your car and smash it to bits with the remains of their raw hands.
And then there are Special Wasteds… horrible supermutations of the Wasted, morphed into something even less human.
They may explode, shoot you from a distance, lunge at your car, or produce even nastier surprises.
They pose a real danger and tend to show up late at night.
And then, there’s the ultimate abomination. A creature whispered about, rarely seen; the monster that guards the only mountain pass towards salvation, and your final challenge.

Okay, you managed to kill a classic. Congratulations. Graphics are subpar, at best. "Pedestrians" are just zombies. And its pointless to kill them. They just disappear and respawn later. Races aren't even races at all. 1 minute and thats it. Its nowhere near the classics, when racing wasn't even mandatory. Car models are generic. There are even a couple that looked so generic that I though they were just random zombie cars driving around the map. One of the best aspects of the classic game was the destruction model of the cars, which were way, way beyond its time. This one is exactly the opposite. Too simple. Too generic. 3/10.
One of the worst games I have ever tried. Basics like menu navigation bind buttons reset to "none" constantly. Resolution resets after races and have to bet set every time a race starts. Control in game is terrible with physics that make no sense, from response to steering inputs being very disconnected, to touching a wall resulting in the car spinning around and getting stuck needing a reset. As a long time supporter of the series I cannot fathom how they could have gotten this so wrong

As a Carmageddon fan, I'm disappointed. The only Carmageddon game i can't recommend. This game is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ comparing other titles. I get it, it's a spin-off, but it feels off.. not Carmageddon at all. (besides a few enemies' names) - The handling is so bad, even the most sensitive steering car with soapy tires on a wet road is more enjoyable at driving than these cars in this game. - The graphics is bad.. Like literally, it's bad. - The enemies are so dumb, like literally they have 0 IQ. - The physics is so bad. Even FlatOut 4's physics are better with those bouncy cars. (somehow) - The cars somehow feels the same. Nothing changes when selecting a different one everytime i start over. (besides the starter weapons) - The models are ugly and boring, like the gameplay. - The whole game is a literal snorefest or (sometimes) just a rage compilation. (thanks to the poor physics and dumb AI) The only positive thing in this game is just the roguelike element. It does that well. If they didn't named it to Carmageddon, i won't be offended by this game, but here we are. It does not worth the full 39,99€ they did listed. Maybe 10€ at max, but not more.
Too low features and shop upgrades are crap Racing mission on map only No Free roam Handling physics crap Boring game Shame dev.. Refunded. Carmageddon Max Damage is better..
When loosing you always need to start new game. Button "Continue" doing the same as button "New Game". There's no way to replay lost round without completing whole way back to current moment. Dead/Time's up/Second place - start new game. And there's no free mode or city missions, like in classic one. It's more FlatOut with zombies, than Carmageddon. I won't recommend to buy this game.
The reviews for this game from Carmageddon oldheads are so salty and hyperbolic that I had to try the game myself because the reviews can't be trusted. There's def a cool game here, but I have to agree it feels like there should be more. That said, $40 games like this tend to get regular updates, so I hope there's a lot more to come. There was a lot of complaining by the community about the vehicle handling early on, right now though the 4 vehicles I used handled pretty well. They do handle a bit differently from each other, like the small truck can start drifting just by turning harder instead of needing to tap the handbrake, while one of the lighter cars has way more grippy tires so it's harder to drift it. I think the tracks are well-designed, I can tell what's going on and can react in time to upcoming threats. For accessibility, there's even an option to slow the game speed down if you want. The tracks present different challenges and offer a chance to use different strategies. For example, one has a lot of small side lanes you can use to basically trap an opponent directly in front of you to light-up with a weapon with impunity. There's one with several big pipes you can drive through and use as ramps to get airtime and earn currency. There's one that's a big circle and littered with obstacles, the circular nature of the track makes it really hard to see what's coming up so you need to have good reflexes or memorize the position of the major obstacles. Clearly, what helps set this game apart from other racers are the zombies infesting the tracks. The basic zombies can present a threat and some opportunities for tactical play. Like you can bait exploding zombies to hit opponents, and you can try to sideram and stall an opponent in a mob of zombies so they get ravaged by the mob. There are giant leech-like Spitter zombies that lob loogies indiscriminately onto the track. There are more types I'm looking forward to discovering. There are vehicles that enter play other than the other racers, like "Enforcers" in police cars that try to wreck anyone. In one race I saw what looked like a special delivery van enter the field, but I couldn't figure out what it was for before all the savage action wrecked it lol. At certain checkpoints in your run, there are Boss vehicles that need to be wrecked. Don't feel bad if you don't beat them for a few runs, the point of the game is to get upgrades to make your car faster/stronger to be able to beat them. On top of that they require some strategy to beat, that may vary depending on what weapon you're using. Like if you're using a Machine Gun, you may want to sideram more often instead, to avoid exploding barrels being constantly dropped behind one of the Boss vehicles. And there seems to be variety, one of the Bosses you encounter can be beat by straight up racing better than them, instead of killing them. The weapons are familiar, Machine Gun, Shotgun, Missile Luncher, etc. A bit boring, but I like that there are variants, like the Launcher can be manually aimed to do more damage, instead of auto-aiming for less damage. There's a wiggly laser weapon I took a shine to. Your car can be equipped with perks (like more damage the longer you hold a weapon's trigger), you can swap/buy different ones in shops along your roadmap. There are synergies here and there, though the bonuses are pedestrian, like +10% Damage Reduction if you have 2 Armor Perks equipped at once or whatever. I like the game, though there are some significant bugs to watchout for: -One time the car hit a small object in the road that sent the car cartwheeling very high into the air, obviously unintended. It's like the kind of bug you'd see while driving in the Helldivers 2 FRV, where hitting a little rock will send you flying into orbit. -Another time, after landing from a jump, the car abruptly came to a complete stop, as if it had crashed into something, like maybe there as a stray hitbox/barrier there. -Several times I couldn't buy a Golden Ticket (let's you prevent losing once, or skip an event on your roadmap) in the Shop even though I had enough currency. The game doesn't support PS5 controllers, you have to use Steam Input, maybe that's causing an issue somehow. The issue keeps happening. -I finally survived the BS bugs and made it to the final boss, I start kicking the boss's butt, and the game doesn't like it so it throws a FATAL ERROR! GAME HAS CRASHED! popup window at me, abruptly closing the game and ending my run. WTF devs? Some other thoughts; the tutorial doesn't really explain anything, it doesn't even tell you about braking/drifting! Maybe that was a bug. The game has a Killing Floor 3 vibe, the vehicles are cool and aren't too recognizable as real-world cars. There are some cool cutscenes in the game but the story is very much not the focus. The game feels stripped down because of this, when you start a new run you get sent to the meta unlocks page, then to the loadout/car selection screen, and then you're racing. Other than the zombies you don't see any other people in the game. What I'd like to see is for the game to lean more heavily into weaponizing zombies to give the game more of a unique identity, make more zombie types to offer more obstructions and challenges and kill methods, etc. As is the game doesn't play very differently from tons of other games in this battle-racing genre, like Gas Guzzlers to name one. The game is fun, though I think in its current state peeps would be more comfortable paying $15-$20 for it. [Update] After finally getting very far in one run, the later stages introduce more racers at once and more zombie types. It becomes a non-stop fight for survival that will end in many tears of joy and trauma. I hope the devs don't give up on this game.
Oh my god, where do I even start? Graphics look like they're from a tablet game from 2008. "Pedestrians" are zombies that move 5 meters an hour, so just static ♥♥♥♥ on the road for you to hit. They are endless. They respawn. They don't die forever or limp around if they lose a limb like in Carma 2. They don't shout or do stupid ♥♥♥♥ like peds in Carma 1. They just disappear into a cloud of ♥♥♥♥ when you hit them and that's it. Races last about one-two minutes. Boss "races" last 4-5 minutes. "Bosses" are just spikey vans with guns. No creativity at all. Destruction Derby levels are just bots endlessly driving in a circle until you either get smacked by all of them at once and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die in 5 seconds or kill every one of them by just driving over pickups and shooting them point blank. Destruction physics are absolute ♥♥♥♥, there is no weight to things, for example -- you can get stuck on an enemy car and they will not let you move. I had to respawn a few times because the car that rammed me literally got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ morphed with my car into one tortured being and neither of us could move. This happens WAY more often than you'd think. Damage isn't fun like, for example, in TDR 2000: chunks of your car don't really fly away, you don't get stuck in other cars cause a piece of your car happens to be lodged in their hull -- you get stuck cause the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game decides that you are superglued to an enemy and there is no friction or inertia so you can't get unstuck, and all you get is just some dents and flapping doors to represent the level of damage. This is after ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Carma 2 which was made in like the 90's where bits and pieces of your car flew away, including your wheels, doors, bumpers, etc.. Amazing! Cars you get and fight are so generic, a rudimentary AI would make them look better if you just fed it pictures of random 70's classics. Hell, a brain damaged gecko connected to a computer would draw better designs. "Unlocks" are a numbers game mostly (+10% this, -20% that). You can't go backwards on a circut, the game will shout "wrong way" and ask you to respawn. And if you do try going backwards -- you will blow up cause you've lost the race. The maps are just that -- a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ circuit. There's nowhere to go -- it's not an open sandbox level to explore like literally every other Carma game, if you leave it by mistake -- you get respawned. The whole roguelike AIDS has reached this genre as well. There are no interesting levels. It's just the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 5 maps that make NASCAR circuit look like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thirty-five-dimensional non-euclid shape. No skyscrapers, no carriers, no mines, no postapocalyptic cities. Nothing. Everything you see is in the background and goes by you like you're travelling at Warp 9, except even when you do see a glimpse of scenery -- it's all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smoehtered by ♥♥♥♥♥♥ motion blur and looks like a Pollock "painting". And all of these maps look like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess where you can't tell where you are driving to, where you're supposed to go, etc. It's a weird mix of lack of detail with visual clutter. There are grammar mistakes all over the place. It's not in some random places either, it's literally in the descriptions of your objectives like "Wreck every opponents". Weapons are bland, don't matter which one you pick. Wow, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ROCKET LAUNCHER! After the springs and bomb-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and zapping rays? ♥♥♥♥ you! Enemy cars respawn. Yes, during the race. There is no Max Damage or Die Anna. There are no racers, no backstories. Just a bunch of cars generated by an AI with some random ♥♥♥♥ welded to them. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Stig from Carma 1 (which is a VW Beetle with spikes welded onto it) has more character than this game multiplied by a factor of a billion. Even the bosses have just one badly drawn "intro" with three stills and some music as their entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ backstory. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "indie" way of making cutscenes: hire some furry ♥♥♥ from DevianArt and pay him in Domino's Pizza coupons to draw maybe five images in AI, which he then "touches up" and calls it a day. Worst of all -- car handling is atrocious. In a racing game, the handling of cars feels like it was made for some GTA clone as an afterthought, like the driving bit isn't the main part of the game, and the devs just happened to include it as a bonus. Like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ -- driving in a game like Samson feels like a real car sim to train F1 drivers compared to this... "racing" game. Cars behave like bricks with weird weight distribution. There is no inertia, the "drifts" feel like they happen by accident, and they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do! Your car will lose control randomly negotiating a simple corner. The whole game is just you driving, getting overtaken by an enemy, shooting said enemy in the back, then going forward until you win or get all blow'd up cause someone finished the race first. You get one try except on "Baby Mode". One try. Why? Cause ♥♥♥♥ you, that's why! There are no fun pickups, no fun bonuses, there are no cool mutators like suicidal pedestrians, big heads, driving underwater, springs for pedestrians and for opponents, bouncy cars, "Pinball mode!". There are NO pickups at all, except ammo (two-three shots for your "gun") and health. NOTHING! There are no cool Cunning Stunts you can do, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achivements, except sometimes you get a popup with white quickly-fading text when you kill a zombie that says "EXTRA STYLE!" like some kind of an evil and cruel mockery of what Carma is all about. You can't win a race by killing the opponents (maybe you can, but they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ respawn). You can't win a race by killing all the pedes... zomb... I mean walking placeholder assets meant to represent the pedestrians. There is nothing here than made Carmageddon great. There's nothing that could even pass for a generic racing destruction game. Nothing. This feels like a "game" made by a skinwalker who happened upon a computer with an ANN deep in the forest. This is what you get when you ask spaghetti people to make a Destruction Derby game -- no humour, just a racing temu at-home version of Death Race 3000, but with like... no character at all. No, wait, it's aggressively bland. Like it wants to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ make you feel terrible at how generic and bland and arcadey it is. Piece of ♥♥♥♥. Not a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing that made Carmageddon fun. NOT A SINGLE ONE! How could you ♥♥♥♥ this up so badly? I mean even if a blind catatonic opossum with palsy tried to make Carmageddon it would be better than this digital amalgamation of random bits of code that happened to be stuck together as if some Euclid SCP. I like experiments and new ventures to explore for franchises as much as the next guy, but this to me looks like a money laundering scheme by some Neapolitan mafia. I would be insulted to think that this was made in over two weeks. I have seen teams of three people make better games in ONE WEEK. ONE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WEEK! IN 2014! To conclude: if this was released in 2008, I'd just go and play TDR 2000 or Carma 2, and think that this was some prank or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ chinese copy of an obscure racing game only known inside Japan/China. Or I'd just download "Have a N.I.C.E. Day!" https://store.steampowered.com/app/844940/Have_a_NICE_day/ Or Quarantine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarantine_(video_game) ♥♥♥♥ me! Sigh End of story.
I made the mistake of buying this thinking "I don't care it's not quite like all other carmageddon games. I've enjoyed pretty much any vehicular combat game I've played". Well, I have to say, the roguelite format just doesn't work. It feels shallow, being stuck with the same car for a "campaign" is boring, there is no storyline that makes the format make any sense, the tracks don't offer any chance to explore or try strategies, and you end up having to do the same first few races over and over until you've gained upgrades to get better. And then in more technical issues - steering is pretty bad, the AI rubberbanding is frustrating... I think this is a good 2h worth of entertainment for fans of the Carmageddon saga. So if you are, and can grab it for less than $10, go for it. Otherwise, hard pass.
Game is actually unplayable, randomly freezes and on some levels just doesn't stop making it impossible to continue. Sometimes leading to an actual crash. Gameplay doesn't even make up for it. The handling despite updates to improve it is still terrible. After a few hours the gameplay loop gets stale. Roguelite element super simplistic and not engaging. No incentive to play on the harder difficulties. Not enough content to justify the price tag. No visual customisation. No boss variety. End boss has a terrible design. Even on a heavy sale this is not worth it. It should be an easy 100% though if you can somehow get past the crashes since all achievements can be obtained on the lowest difficulty
It's a down point that it isn't like the other games from the franchise while carrying it's name But aside from that, it's a very fun car combat with guns and all
