This game does not know what it wants to be. its historically inaccurate, almost 70% of the japanese troops use german made guns for some reason, there are more cutscenes then gameplay and it feels like its forcing political views down your throat. not the best cod ever.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ — 4/5 Listen up, recruits. Grab a tin cup, sit by the fire, and let an old “virtual WWII vet” bend your ear for a moment. I’ve been in this franchise since the very first Call of Duty stormed my PC back in the day. COD1 and COD2? Those felt like the good old days in the trenches—historical detail, immersive atmosphere, campaigns that punched you right in the gut. Then Modern Warfare came around and—don’t get me wrong—I enjoyed it, but this old soldier’s heart has always belonged to WWII. Fast-forward through years of modern pew-pew fatigue, and along comes Vanguard. I ignored it at first—mixed reviews, complaints about historical oopsies, multiplayer being about as fun as peeling potatoes for KP duty. But when it went on sale for about the price of a ration pack, I said, “Alright, soldier… let’s see what you’ve got.” And you know what? This campaign actually surprised the hell out of me. It’s cinematic as all get-out. Half the time I felt like I wandered onto the set of a WWII blockbuster instead of a video game. Explosions in your ears, bullets snapping past, your heart pounding—it’s been a long time since a COD campaign made me feel anything remotely close to the old COD1/COD2 days. Some missions had me laughing, others had me nearly jumping out of my chair when some enemy decided to introduce himself at zero distance. And Stalingrad? Good lord. Absolutely fantastic. Felt like I was right back watching the 1993 Stalingrad film—cold, desperate, gritty, and beautifully done. The Technical Stuff: Graphics: Stunning. Max it out and it’s a real looker. Sound: Top-notch. Guns, explosions, ambience—all chef’s kiss. Gameplay: Smooth, varied, and surprisingly flexible. Multiple ways to approach objectives. Are there historical inaccuracies? Sure. But as someone who “served” in countless virtual wars, I can tell you: I’ve seen far worse. Only Downside: The cutscenes can be long—three to five minutes at times. I get that they’re building a story, but sometimes I felt like I could’ve brewed a cup of coffee and still come back in time to see my character staring dramatically at the camera. Final Word: This old digital veteran gives it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It’s refreshing, emotional, cinematic, and honestly one of the better COD campaigns in recent years. If you grew up on the early WWII Call of Duty games, this one might just hit you right in the nostalgia. Recommended—especially if you’ve got a soft spot for WWII campaigns, proper firefights, and the smell of virtual gunpowder in the morning.
BEWARE!!!!!!BEWARE!!!!!!BEWARE!!!!!! I COULDNT REFUND THE GAME AND IT HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR YEARS! For everyone who is trying to buy this on STEAM.. DONT!~ The CAMPAIIGN doesnt work and the MULTIPLAYER just keeps crashing ! ZOMBIES is the only game mode that kinda runs well for some reason..
Im one of the wired people who only play CoD for the Singleplayer. Its fun, but not wort 60€, get it on sale.
Within the first 5 seconds you're immediately made aware this is yet another boring Woke storyline. Arthur let's everyone know "We married your women." Yeah. Ok buddy. Polina is our feminist nazi hunter who's bullets are faster than whatever. Yawn. Use to love how these games at least made a half decent attempt at blending history with fiction but this is your usual suspects of Woke, Woke, Woke. Y.A.W.N
Campaign mode crashes instantly on launch with a hard executable error (Windows Event 1001 / 0x00001338). I tested this across three separate PCs—the game is completely broken on Steam, while the exact same PC setup runs it without issue on Game Pass. Activision Support's "solution" for an offline campaign crash was telling me to unplug my router and disable recording software, then sending endless copy-pasted templates for months. Unplayable game, useless support. Save your money.
I launched Call of Duty®: Vanguard expecting World War II. Instead, I got World War “please clap for this cutscene.” The guns are loud, the explosions are cinematic, and history is treated like a suggestion rather than a rule. Vanguard doesn’t want to teach you WWII — it wants you to feel important while vaguely standing near it. The campaign jumps between soldiers like it’s speed-dating trauma. Every character has a backstory. Every backstory wants to be emotional. Some of them almost succeed. Gunplay? Smooth. Polished. Comfortably familiar. So familiar it sometimes feels like the game is playing you instead. Multiplayer is chaos on rails: • I spawned → died immediately. • I flanked perfectly → someone spawned behind my soul. • I unlocked a new gun → it was obsolete by Tuesday. Zombies exist. They are there. We acknowledge them respectfully and move on. Vanguard isn’t bad. It’s just safe, loud, and slightly insecure — like it’s afraid you’ll stop shooting long enough to think. Still, I queue again. Because muscle memory is stronger than disappointment. 7.5/10 – History bends, bullets fly, and I salute out of habit.
need to be connected to online services even when you just want to play singleplayer campaign, and keep getting connection errors.
I would not buy this game, until the 9 broken campaign achievements are fixed. If you would like to support our petition please sign it: https://www.change.org/p/online-petition-for-call-of-duty-vanguard-on-steam. Our protest is 3 years old, because the game was broken on the first day when it was released. The company just likes to make profit without repairing older games. I called them a company but I think is rather an absolute monarchy.
