Hey, what do you know? I get to leave the first review for a game. I loved this game. It's so unique I don't even think you could categorize it. The concept of scouring a fake OS for any hints on how to unlock the secret file, not in the style of solving a mystery, but almost in the style of hunting for random easter eggs that don't really play into a larger plot is an experience like I've never quite had before. It might sound too simple, but it derives difficulty in making you think to check everything and remember what you've already checked to avoid going in circles. The zany atmosphere of said OS also helps assure this never gets boring. Based on the achievements page, it looks as though I'm the second person to beat this game, and I assume the other is one of the devs, so I'm the first person to beat this game since devs don't count. This is just the experience I came to the depths of Steam for: To discover and beat a fun game no one or very very very few had before, and this granted my wish in just about the best way possible. Thank you for making this. I'll try for a 100% completion as well.
I don't truly understand what this game is doing but I am enjoying every moment of it. EDIT: Now that I've seen the end, I understand better what this game is doing. It made me golf clap.

My overwhelming feeling while playing the game was that the creators had a lot of fun putting it together. Games that usually get described as "personal" are often ones dealing with some really heavy subject matter, but when people talk about something as oddball as this, you rarely hear that word. To me, Butter Side Down feels deeply personal and it's why I like it so much. No gen AI model will ever spit out anything like this.
Short but sweet game with surreal vibes and a really neat faux OS interface. Loved the audio design, world building, and visuals. Do recommend!
Short and sweet! Kind of like Hypnospace Outlaw. Picked it up for less than $5, easily worthwhile. Heavily meme-able. Fun multiple choice questions with LORE and INTRIGUE. Good if you like visual novels or quick games with many, many different endings. Play blackjack, negative blackjack, and Marc's Money- for those into Caravan, Gwent, or Tales of Tribute. Play a custom soundtrack unique to YOU. Enable Slimer Sounds. Gamer CPU fan. Every sound at once. The world is your joyster.
I loved it, deliciously bizarre and surreal, with great art style and full of humor that may appear complete nonsense at the beginning but by the end you can understand what's behind it by solving the "mystery".
not close to done with this yet but it really just tickles the ♥♥♥♥ out of me
This game offers a delightfully surreal experience, featuring a unique art style. Set within the confines of an old-school desktop operating system, you’re presented with a handful of icons and a locked file. It’s up to you to uncover clues, piece together the mystery, and understand what’s really going on behind the scenes. The characters are quirky and amusing, each bringing their own charm to the table and who could forget the iconic French alligator? Ultimately, it’s a highly entertaining time-sink that will keep you hooked as you explore the various endings.
A game where you play an office worker who has to answer silly questionnaires for some reason. The game is quite funny and if you're a sucker for fictional operating systems like I am then it's worth the low price to give it a look.
The writing is very fun (important!) and the gameplay revolving around figuring out the clues by yourself is engaging. Perfect length also
