Bramble: The Mountain King

I started playing the game without any specific expectations. I was expecting a game in the style of Little Nightmares, with a warm, story-driven experience that didn’t rely too much on mechanics. After the first four chapters, I can say I got bored and started to think it was just a kids’ game. I started the fifth chapter, and then... Oh my gosh, who wrote this crazy mythological story? I absolutely loved this story. It’s like Sam Lake has a twin in one of the Scandinavian countries who’s working on a Ph.D. in Scandinavian mythology, and that twin wrote this story. I don’t know anyone else in the gaming world besides Sam Lake who could write a story with this much wild thrill and horror. I'm not the type of person who gets easily affected by this kind of suspense and horror game. But this mythological story is a masterpiece. The gameplay mechanics met my expectations. What I expect from a game like this is that it offers a variety of gameplay mechanics and doesn’t make you do the same thing over and over again. Yes, Bramle: The Mountain King makes very effective use of the Unreal Engine. The Swedish developers, like the Polish developers, are skilled in using the Unreal Engine. By the begginning of Plague Village in Chapter 10, there’s also a nice stealth mechanic. It was a smart choice to limit this to just that chapter and not spread it throughout the entire game. The boss battles were successful and thrilling, especially the fight against Pesta. The game isn’t particularly difficult. Aside from the final boss, there wasn’t a single boss that gave me much trouble. It’s quite smooth, and I’d say you can complete it 100% in about 5–6 hours. It’s a very satisfying game in terms of value for money. Any player who enjoys mythological horror stories should definitely give this a try.
