About
Bot Colony Redux is a complete replacement of the original Bot Colony, with additional functionality in the form of the Garage and Riot episodes, a Mission 2 in Intruder , more content in Arrival, and conversational gameplay that actually works well (and better Speech-to-text, and emotive voices). It is also playable in 15 languages, while Bot Colony was only available in English. If you wishlisted Bot Colony, you may want to wishlist Bot Colony _Redux.
Bot Colony ( was unique in 2014 (and still is in 2026) by being the ONLY game on the planet relying on AI-based conversation as the main game mechanic, including references to the 3d scene and commanding characters to manipulate scene objects. You use your own words in order to advance in the game. Bot Colony will appeal to players interested in genre-defining games with novel mechanics.

You'll get to experience Artificial Intelligence that is currently in the realm of cinematic fantasy in Her, Ex Machina, iRobot, Blade Runner, 2001 A Space Odyssey. It's a challenging and entertaining experience that will make you realize how literally machines process language, and how much we take for granted when we speak with people.
Type of speak freely and discover the story using your own words. The answers spoken by the robots is generated dynamically. Contrast with typical game storytelling, where canned voice acting is controlled by dialog trees.
Experience the eerie atmosphere of a South Pacific island featuring ultra modern architecture and robots amid a lush jungle setting. The techno-romantic mood is enhanced by the original music soundtrack of the game.
Play detective and piece together the events that took place in a house in a 48 hour period by exploring the robot's video observations.
Work with the robots to scuttle violent sabotage attempts by robot-hating organizations.
Game sessions are unique to each player: What you say controls how robots react and what they answer. Sessions of other players will have different dialog than your session. Every session is unique.
Make the game your own: Teach robots new knowledge and new commands.
Speak or type. The Microsoft Cognitive speech-to-text does an amazing job understanding what you say, irrespective of your accent. When speech-to-text makes mistakes, you can easily correct them. You can combine playing through speech or text according to your preference.
Inspired by Bot Colony sci-fi novel, a near future industrial espionage thriller by Eugene Joseph. The novel ( available on Amazon Kindle) explores the verbal abilities of future robots and introduces the 5th law of robotics 'do as people do'.

Excellent idea and game have improved during time. Technology Bot Colony brings will redefine games interact and behaviour. Devs have done huge work and hopefully they'll continue working with the game so make it even more better and enhance the story with new capters.
When I first played this I actually wasn't a fan since the controls felt kinda weird (and my computer was kinda ♥♥♥♥ back then which clearly didn't help :p). I also wasn't too sure on what to do and how to interact with robots. When I started it again though a few days ago, I realized pretty fast that a lot about the game had changed and that the devs had put a sh*tload of work into their game. It "feels" pretty good now and interacting with the robots, figuring out how you get the answer you want/need out of them and teaching them new stuff was a lot of fun and I'm already looking forward to play the third episode. Usually the achievements are what make me play a game in first place but here they were just the cherry on top. If you decide to get Bot Colony you're not getting a game, you're getting an experience.

Bot Colony The could be good when done, frustrating game that actually remains fun !
Ok so this is a weird game to review, the game claims to be the first AI-powered conversation game, and if this is AI at its best then we have nothing to fear from any AI’s anytime soon. You are supposed to be able to talk to the robots and question them with speech recognition…..this works about 30% off the time and some of the things it thinks you said genuinely amuses. In my test i spent an hour on the start of the tutorial, I had to order Jimmy (A robot i had hacked in my tutorial role as a spy) about….first though i told him my name (spy 101, never give the enemies security system your name lol) When the speech recognition worked i found him to be rather on the dense side of things Me: “what is on the computer?” Jimmy “There is a bottle of whisky,a pencil, a ruler...” Me: “what files where on the computer?” Jimmy: “I don't have an exact answer but i know Masaya watched video content on the computer” Me: “show me the video content”, Jimmy: “I cant find the content nearby” Me: “Show me the video content on the computer next to you” Jimmy: which video content on the computer next to you ? please point to the video content on the computer next to you” I click the computer Jimmy: “this isnt a video content on the computer next to you, this is a work station” Me: “show me the video content on the workstation” Jimmy” which video content please point to ….” ARGHHHHHH lol So why i am saying it is a weird game to review, clearly the main functionality of the game is broken, so it is a do not recommend, right? Well no, it is broken, of that there is no doubt, but it was also strangely a lot of fun trying to get the truth from Jimmy and deeply satisfying when i finally wrangled one of the 14 videos from him CONTROLS/CONTROL PAD Use your voice or type and move around with mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard work well as does the typing the voice recognition...not so much though it did seem to improve towards the end of my test session. GRAPHICS Very dated, if you simply must have the latest shiny graphics then this is not for you. INTUITIVENESS No, dear god no, one of the least intuitive games i have ever played, from a control stance it is picked up quite fast but working out how to proceed in the game is near on impossible. PROS:

Unique design.
Could be very good once it works right.
The update history shows the dev is trying to make it work properly.
Strangely fun despite not working right, you will enjoy getting frustrated with Jimmy.
CONS:

It just does not do what it sets out to do.
FIRST TRY VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY-xVMS1sGk VERDICT At the time of this review the game is in the summer sale for £4 at that price it is well worth getting, for the novelty, the weird fun at trying to get Jimmy to play ball and for the hope the game improves in the future. At its standard price i would say get it only if you understand it is not what it promises to be. This is however a recommended game as i enjoyed playing it. Jimmy is lucky i do not have access to a trash compactor though…..
Broken game. Doesn't work, lot's of bugs, Voice commands don't work. This game is not Pre-Alpha. It's Pre-Pre-Pre Alpha. Love the idea of the game, just wish they worked on it a bit more before releasing it. Will update and play when the game is at least in Pre-Alpha stage UPDATE 13-JUNE-2017 Still not working. Had the voice commands working for a few seconds, and then the game crashed. Have not been able to got the voice commands to work ever since. I admired the game idea a lot, I really do. But you just can't sell this game at this state. I advise everyone to NOT buy this game as of yet. Wait and hope it will work in the future. Again, to the developers, I admire the idea, I really love the idea a lot. It's just unfortunate it's not working how it should. I do have hopes that in the near future I can try again, and it will work for everyone. I'd hate to see a beautiful idea like this die.
Was looking forward to playing this game after seeing the introduction and reading about the concept. However that was long gone when I got to the game and the Servers where down. It seemed that I was not the only one to come across this issue. So for now I will have to rate it as a thumbs down untill I can retry the game. So if you are looking the bot/speech kinda game review you are straight out of luck as the one that i was offered is down for the count!
