Updated review (jan 19th 2023) I've owned this app since its release, and even with a couple bugs, this is still my favorite VR title for photogrammetry, even when compared to other contenders such as Brink Traveler. In the right scenes, the quality is unmatched, and the locations are far more special. For instance there is a whole scan of the Carlsbad caverns, and it's just a treat to be able to experience the scale of such unique locations in VR. While there may be individual scenes that you can find in SteamVR Home or Brink Traveler that do a bit better than the worst scenes here, I find the overall package of Blueplanet VR to be incontestably better, even with the bugs (and lack of proper smooth locomotion, etc) Highly recommended, even with the higher cost, given how much work is needed to capture these locations in such high detail & lighting. Also note: To properly experience these locations, you need to turn up the supersampling in your SteamVR settings by quite a bit.
This is great, but get it on sale. There is only 70 - 80 minutes of stuff here. Spectacular, but also spectacularly expensive for what it is.

first, thank you for this beautiful game, a lot of work and times are put into it. I enjoyed it very much, most locations are interesting to see, but some are not so interesting, like the empty warehouse , there are nothing interesting thing to see, just an empty huge warehouse or building. please add more interesting and happy places to see and to visit. more tree, flower, bird, nature, river, sky, night star ... etc. My suggestion is to have a map of the earth to show where the location or place are on the map. this is more informative and educational way to learn about the place. Add some background music will be great as well. May I ask for more from Blue Planet, able to see more 3D 180 or 360 photo as well, or a Blue Planet web browser to view more 3D 4K and 6K photo from Blue Planet. again think you very much for this wonderful VR game. great buy.
It looks like this title is offering a big library of interesting places and I really wanted to visit them, but it appears that the Oculus Quest controllers (using Link) are not supported? I couldn't teleport so there was no way to move inside the worlds. I hope they fix this. For everyone not using the Quest I would recommend this title especially if you like photogrammetry!
The demo environments are kind of good, and just 2 or 3 more in the paid version. Most of theme are just small chunks with 360º image on the background, wich sometime is out of proportions... There are several apps with better quality, some of them free. I see the effort here, but I would have appreciated less content with more quality. I can only recomend it if is on of your first apps showing photogrametry environments.

Absolutely gorgeous scans and everything I hoped this app would be. A great way to explore and escape during covid too. I've quickly glanced at about half of the environments so far, some are lower resolution but many are a very high quality and hard to achieve. Looking forward to spending more time in many of these.
I have really enjoyed this so far. I look forward to seeing more interesting places.
Blueplanet is a collection of 50+ environments built from photogrammetry and 360 degrees images of real life places. Most of the scenes have free teleportation over confined surfaces, but there are also huge open areas with gliding locomotion and stereoscopic 360 photos. It's a bit pricey(especially considering that most of such experiences are free), but I think it's worth the money. Photogrammetry in Blueplanet is way cleaner than in most similar VR experiences (like f.e. Realities or VersailesVR) and is second only to the products of huge companies like Google, Microsoft or Valve. Quality varies between scenes but even the worst of them are quite nice to look at. On the minus side, there is still an issue with using Steam menu from inside Blueplanet: it always causes teleportation to stop working and the whole app to crash during scene transitions. So if you need to change controller bindings or supersampling, do it beforehand. Also a small nitpick: ambient music tracks are too short in most scenes and they loop over and over.
