Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

Reviews
I'll remove the bad comment when they remove the BAD gacha system! One of the most enjoyable things about the game is the f2p friendly gacha mechanic and a significantly low amount of microtransactions, compared to other gachas, and taking this away means taking away the games' charm.
Bring back the gacha system. Nexon is trash.

I have been playing daily since 2022. As a fossil in the game who clocked thousands of hours on emulators and phones who got region-locked out of this game on steam, I'm qualified to say what I'm about to say. The new system is NOT objectively worse but subjectively worse in every front. Objectively, it's "Oh you get 3 more purples (3*) in 10000 pulls." My brother in Christ, you need to stick to the game for 5+ years to get that number. Subjectively however, it changes your pulling milestones/habits. It changed the fundamental pull expectation by worsening your rates at every banner that you want both on-banner units (which is the core concept of the game since day 1 and what people adapt and plan their spreadsheets around). It incentivizes a different crowd (a.k.a the Hoyo model) where you pull more often. Fundamentally, it just "feels" worse to gacha in this game. The numbers and stats back it up but it feels infinitely worse when you can miss your rate up all the way to 200 hard pity. There's no 50/50 first time and 100 2nd time like Hoyo or Kuro. Try justifying that to your spreadsheet when you go hard 200 repeatedly. The old gacha promise is pull 200, you have 80% chance to get both new units. If 20%, tough luck, you can stop here. The new promise is, 100 pull coinflip, 200 pull guaranteed. Pull 200 to guaranteed 1 out of 2. If you hit anywhere outside of the milestone, you are royally f*cked. It punishes you for hitting the jackpot because now you are forced to pull extra to the milestones for the bonus 10-pull ticket that are time-limited btw. Patrick Söderlund ruined the game. The Gacha system got gutted, taken out back and shot in the head. Numbers mean little when your optics is this screwed with both how it was implemented and announced. Thanks ex-EA CEO, I hope hell has a special place for you slimy piece of sh*t.
For 5 years Nexon was being good, I knew it's too good to be true. It's a shame, I want to keep playing this game but the gacha change forced me to quit out of principle.

Make gacha great again!
I wasn't as upset at the change in gacha as how little the company seems to care about its player's feedback. I don't even have motivation to login or get any free pyrox. I'll wait until next year and if nothing change, then I'll delete this game for good.
To new guy rookie BA player : If you reading this, that mean you are in this game trap, because they change the rules.

AI wording and slightly shallow but it is what it is (hard to fact-check Korean scandals)
Who's Actually Responsible for Nexon's Repeated Trust Failures?
Patrick Söderlund joined Nexon as Executive Chairman in February 2026. His brief covers creative direction and long‑term strategy. He had been in post for about five months when the Blue Archive 5.5 controversy erupted – not long enough to be the architect of the decisions that caused it. The two executives with the real track record have been at Nexon for years.
Shiro Uemura – CFO since 2015
Under his financial watch:

2018 – Nexon fined ₩939 million for lying about loot box odds in Sudden Attack.
2024 – Nexon fined ₩11.6 billion (the largest ever for this type of fraud) for manipulating MapleStory Cube probabilities over nearly a decade. A separate consumer settlement added another ₩1.1 billion.
Total fines and settlements from Uemura's tenure: ~₩13.6 billion.
Junghun Lee – CEO since March 2024
Lee isn't personally writing code or setting loot box probabilities. He's not the one who forgot to test the Raising Maple ability options. But he is the CEO of a company that keeps having the same kinds of problems, and he is the one who ultimately signs off on business decisions that affect players. He walked into a company with a long history of trust failures. So far, the pattern hasn't changed under his leadership.

January 2026 – Raising Maple had a bug that made top‑tier paid items literally impossible to obtain (0% chance). Support dismissed complaints, then quietly patched it. Nexon later admitted management found out late, issued full refunds, and gave 200% compensation.
March 2026 – Following the fallout, Nexon announced that Lee's 2025 performance incentive was cut by 50%. The company stated the cut was made "to put into practice a sense of responsibility among key executives and sincerity toward restoring user trust". The responsible manager resigned. The refunds cost Nexon roughly 140 billion yen in lost revenue across Q4 2025 and Q1 2026.
Whether he can't change the culture, won't change it, or simply hasn't had enough time yet – only time will tell. But the responsibility for what happens on his watch is his. That's what the job means.
What does this have to do with Blue Archive 5.5?
The 5.5 monetisation change was a business decision – and business decisions go through the CEO (operations) and the CFO (finance). Söderlund's creative‑strategy role is not directly involved in that process. The pattern is consistent: Uemura and Lee have been at the centre of repeated consumer‑trust failures for years. Söderlund is new and doesn't make those calls. The responsibility sits with the two executives who have been running the numbers and signing off on strategy all along.
