For generations, the people of Mercia have suffered under the rule of the dark sorceress Etheldred. Every seven years, her armies sweep across the land to abduct the innocent, never to be seen again. Now, the call for heroes has gone out one last time.
Battle Axe is a top-down hack and slash adventure inspired by the golden age of arcade games. Featuring detailed pixel art by industry veteran Henk Nieborg and a rousing soundtrack from Manami Matsumae, this is a true tribute to classic gaming.

Bitmap Brothers tribute game with the beauty and rapid knives of Gods and the rest, as others have said, The Chaos Engine. Problem is when you do something in a style from when games were frikkin' hard, you're gonna frustrate people, hence all the negative reviews. But this is like blaming coffee for being bitter. If this isn't to your taste, be warned. If you welcome this style of play and visual, then go for it, but not for full price, that's just insane. And the full price won't help people love the thing any more. Game itself is beautiful
