VERDICT Bad Parenting 1: Mr. Red Face is a game that works best when you go in knowing as little as possible. It's not mechanically ambitious, but it doesn't really need to be. The short runtime allows it to stay focused on the uncomfortable story it's trying to tell, and I think that makes the experience more effective rather than feeling incomplete. It's a short horror game, but one that can leave a surprisingly uncomfortable impression after you've finished it. 4/5

No parece la gran cosa, pero realmente me sorprendió, vale la pena.

Eu já conhecia a história, mas, mesmo assim, o jogo mexeu comigo. Eu também tenho uma família conturbada, não desse jeito, mas, mesmo assim, o jogo reflete um lado podre dos pais atuais por não terem responsabilidade de ao menos ter um filho. Me entristeceu pensar que, em algum lugar do mundo, outra criança está passando por isso. O jogo é sombrio e mostra, na visão inocente de uma criança a maldade humana, mesmo com isso tudo gostei bastante de como tudo foi abordado e do jogo em si.

NOTE: I am separating the art from the artist in this review. The creep of a dev was caught grooming minors and has been (deservedly) getting a ton of hate for it. Knowing this, if you don't want to engage with the game then that's totally understandable but if you still want to experience the game it IS super short (roughly 30 mins) so you could play and refund if you want or just watch a playthrough on YouTube or something. I wanted to make a review PURELY for the game itself as it is a good game, just made by a terrible person. I don't want to spoil much so I'll be brief. The story follows a look at abuse through a child's eyes. The sensitive topic of abuse I think was handled well and was portrayed in a way that feels emotional even with such a short game. The pacing is great and the game itself is roughly half an hour long. The characters fit their roles phenomenally well and I don't think any were underutilized or were overstaying their welcome. Each were given their proper time and were able to leave a memorable impact with the screentime given. More time could've of course given way for more in depth character exploration but it is good for what is given. The most striking thing about this game are the visuals. I love how the game looks and I think it not only makes it stand out but elevates the story immensely. The gritty atmosphere and the poly-esque texture makes it feel super unique and eerie in a way not many games can replicate. Overall I would absolutely recommend the game if you are interested. It's well made and the theme/message is extremely well executed with a great ending to boot.
