Axis Football 2027

Gameplay: 6/10 Presentation: 4/10 Soundtrack: 7/10 Graphics: 7/10 Franchise: 7/10 Overall: 6/10 Graphics has a lot of improvements done on Axis Football 27, I'm however worried about the amount of AI designs shown off in the images, you can even clearly see it in the about section of the store page. There definitely needs to be some re-designs to the team logos, they've looked the same since I last played Axis Football 20. But overall the graphic improvements are there but there's nothing really unique to its style. Gameplay is a lot of fun, animation needs a lot of work, too many times I've seen DB's running in circles and getting Moss'd by a receiver that they clearly have an advantage over in their angle and positioning. Sometime running backs will get tackled from 3 yards away from thin air, but a good amount of the animation is functional and looks pretty solid. Throwing the ball feels pretty solid but there needs to be better improvement in breaking tackles, the players lack any sort of weight or momentum when moving around. The defensive side is especially bad, I've had a glitch happen to me when my player would keep running past the line of scrimmage just to draw a flag. I feel like my guy is on ice skates and yet slow to react to anything, I got no clue how they managed to do that. They need a serious overhaul to the controls. The presentation is lacking. I really like the announcer and crowd reactions but that's the only nice thing about the presentation. There is literally nothing else going on with the presentation, no key players comparison, no half time show, no before show or after show, nothing. Soundtrack is good, a lot of variety and pretty catchy. Again, nothing crazy, but solid enough to not drive me crazy. Franchise is the best thing about this game but there is a lot of holes and missing content that I'm surprised isn't even in the game. For some reason they thought it was a good idea for some teams to not have a home stadium, SF, Philadelphia, etc. I don't know why they would ship out a football game without all of the teams home stadiums. Designing the jerseys and stadiums are good and have variety, I don't really have any trouble coming up and designing my own teams, you can get pretty creative with the design process. You have a Hall of Fame screen to see team records and how many championships you have won, but for some reason you can't see every years Axis Bowl champions or stats. They seriously need to add a Hall of Fame player section of all of the retired players that have played for your franchise. Coaching mode is really fun, I love seeing how my players I've drafted pan out, but a lot of the time the enemy AI will just start chucking deep 70 yard bombs when you get a lead and all of their players just catch everything just so the score is closer, it's extremely annoying. The fact that they use AI to create articles in the game is the worst aspect of this game to be honest and it always writes the most boring chat-gpt essay I have ever seen. THEY NEED TO WRITE THEIR OWN ARTICLES, YOU'RE A GAME DESIGNER, DESIGN WITH CREATIVITY! Don't let a disgusting clanker take over something that YOU claim to passionately work on! Drafting process is a lot of fun, investing in coaches and scouts that can find talent and finding diamonds in the rough is the best aspect of franchise mode. Overall, I can't say I could recommend this game, football games is depressingly in a sad state. Check out Retro Bowl, it's the best alternative if you're tired of EA having a monopoly on NFL and NCAA license.
