Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered

A&O XXL is a decent debut. It has a lot of untapped potential and strange decisionmaking however. The currency being legionaire helmets suits the franchise, but there are so many to collect and the rewards are mediocre. Slapping legionaires yields a single helmet while boxes spread throughout the world yield 5, which makes taking care of the soldiers pointless, they dont give you experience. And there are so many boxes its genuinely mind boggling (The Legend of Zelda has the same mechanic with the pots and rupees, but there are much fewer in that franchise): it just feels like filler. Having wild boars serve as health regeneration makes sense and fits perfectly as well. The golden laurels are a good idea for collectibles. I'm quite fond of the former roman spy serving as a guide. Slapping napping druids to wake them up lets you save your progress, nice. The world map has Asterix & Obelix run or swim from one point to the next in a Super Mario fashion, neat. The soundtrack and effects are serviceable. The voice acting is nothing to write home about but its pretty good. After a while the gameplay is getting stale though so I skipped the rest of the game after being in Scandinavia for a while.

Challenges and Time Trials ruins it. If I have to describe how broken and unpolished this remastered version of the original Asterix & Obelix XXL is then it would be simply the extra unnecessary bull being shoved in. This game is my childhood pieces to play with and having a blast with the original soundtrack, granted it has its fun moments and exploration given. But combine this with "remastered" graphics you can switch between and the original it looks so SO bland. Especially when enhanced models and levels don't even have shadows or lighting added at all like it's a test level. The new OST is very... questionable? And challenge mode are scattered across everywhere as you progress. [b] I despise these.[/b] They're not even tested, being on Greece level going on a chase scene with the boss, you beat the boss and challenge mode unlocks. I activate it with no prompts asking "You wanna begin?" or so it throws you right at it with no questions asked, I failed as I get thrown into the pit- The timer is STILL running and I am back at the chase scene with the boss, meaning I have to do this all over and game doesn't ask me if I wanna retry the challenge or so. And I quit. This is not how you do remasters. This is degrading badly.

Улучшенный и более отзывчивый геймплей. Новые игровые режимы (например, режим испытаний на время) и новые костюмы для главных героев. Атмосфера: Юмор, фирменные комиксные драки («полетаем!») и легкая мультяшная атмосфера оригинала переданы отлично.

Игра дееетства Знаете, это интересные ощущения. Не уверен, что это конкретно ностальгические ощущения, просто игра хорошая. Даже несмотря на репетативность уровней. Даже несмотря на плоское повествование "Иди вон туда и набей морду вон тем парням". Даже несмотря на малое количество комбинаций, что для игр такого жанра будет минусом. Всё равно в неё весело играть Вселенная красиво воссоздана. Музыка - мое почтение! Дикий угар мочить римлян под техно) Было приятно снова сыграть в эту игру "без костылей" и с обновленной графикой Любовь разработчикам

As someone who grew up with the original Asterix & Obelix XXL, I couldn't resist picking up the remastered version. After completing it 100%, I can confidently say it brought back all the fun and nostalgia I remembered, while making the experience even better. The game perfectly captures the charm and humor of the Asterix universe. Smashing waves of Romans never gets old, and the colorful locations are a joy to explore. The remastered visuals look much cleaner while still preserving the atmosphere of the original. I also really liked the option to switch between the classic and remastered graphics it’s a great feature for longtime fans. The gameplay is simple but incredibly enjoyable. It's a classic action-platformer with light puzzles, collectibles, and satisfying combat. It doesn't try to reinvent itself, and that's exactly why it works so well. The controls feel responsive, and exploring every corner of the levels to collect everything was genuinely rewarding. You can definitely tell it's a remaster of an older game, but that's part of its charm. The developers stayed true to the original while making it more accessible for modern players. Whether you're revisiting a childhood favorite or experiencing it for the first time, there's a lot to enjoy here. I had an amazing time from beginning to end, and earning every achievement made the journey even more satisfying.
