Asphalt Legends

[h1]This game is one hell of a journey.[/h1] I have ~600 hours on this game (Steam shows 30 hours cause I got Asphalt from the Microsoft store) and I have to say this game makes you change your opinion of it slowly but suddenly. The stage I am at, I simply [b]cannot recommend[/b] this game unless you don't mind spending more than a 100 hours on it. [hr][/hr] [h1]The game is way out of its prime.[/h1] [b]Though it was P2W from the start, this game was really good near its launch in 2018 and was in its prime till 2019.[/b] This game was never going to compete with Asphalt 8 on F2P-friendliness, Vivendi had bought Gameloft in 2016 and made games P2W and profit-oriented. Slowly after 2019 the game became extremely P2W and F2P players had to grind a lot just to keep up. Now, in its current state, the game is slightly better from 2021 but still going through monetization hell. The playerbase has also changed. Many veterans left the game as it doesn't have much to offer. Only a bunch of them are left and most of the community is newbies. Almost no one sticks with this game and it makes sense, no one wants to. Anyways, here's how I'd rank the game by features: [hr][/hr] [h1] The Good [/h1] [list] [*] The graphics are stunning. No, they're not FH6 level by any means but they simply look amazing and also work on poor hardware. [*] The arcade gameplay is for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're familiar with racing games, new to the genre, or simply just new to life, the gameplay is fun for everyone. If anytime the driving seems too complicated, you can turn on touchdrive which makes it so that you influence where the car goes and the hard part is dealt with automatically. [*] There is lots of content. You aren't going to run out of content for a long time [b]until you reach the paywalls and progression gets much slower[/b] [*] The multiplayer is fun. I don't have much more to say about it. [/list] [h1] The Bad [/h1] [list] [*] The physics are hilariously bad. It's genuinely amusing how such a big studio can't get arcade physics right. Sometimes it pisses me off so much and sometimes it makes me laugh. [*] Most tracks prefer agile cars like the corvette gs which have low speed but good acceleration/handling/nitro compared to a high speed car with worse handing and nitro. It glorifies a low-skill playstyle and makes the game less fun to play. [/list] [h1] The Ugly [/h1] [list] [*] Horrible P2W scheme. Wherever you go you will find P2W. After a 100 hours or so you will be hit by paywalls in so many places that you won't wanna play anymore. Highly disappointing. [*] The grind isn't worth it. The game makes you undergo heavy grind for a car that's gonna be replaced by the new meta car next season OR you'd blow tons of money on the current meta car just for it to be replaced next season [/list] [hr][/hr] [h1]Summary[/h1] Don't play this game if you wanna think of playing for even a bit more than a hundred hours.
