About
Approximately Up is your best chance to experience spaceflight in whatever you and your crew (singleplayer or co-op multiplayer with up to 4 players) can bolt together! Build epic spaceships or barely flying trashcans — it’s entirely up to you. Control your creation from a first-person view right from the deck of your ship. Complete challenging objectives, hunt achievements, face the dangers of space, and collect new components to expand your current spacecraft — or build hundreds of new ones. One is never enough!
Everything begins with a single piece of frame and grows into a massive, complex ship built from thousands of components. Create automated systems, experiment with different input controllers, sensors, and meters — connect them to whatever you need, and let the magic (or chaos) happen! Once it looks ready (or not), hit launch and see what happens!

Experimental power sources that need to be delivered to a station on another planet — causing unexpected power outages mid-flight? Some strange energy crystal charging up like a ticking time bomb? Or maybe it’s just a massive, ridiculously heavy submarine this time? Can your spaceship handle that?

Is the planet covered in oceans? What’s hiding beneath that thick atmosphere? Can you see the surface through those massive clouds? Everything’s waiting for you to find out! Explore 15 unique planets, each with its own look, feel, and dynamic soundtrack that changes in real time as you explore and make new discoveries!

Who forgot to connect that cable? Who mounted the thruster backward? Who forgot the solar panels? Or the door-opening button? Is the radar working? How about the batteries? Enjoy the hilarious chaos in co-op multiplayer with up to 4 players — and find out once and for all... WHOSE FAULT WAS IT?!

You start on Earth and slowly explore a system of 15 planets, each with its own size, gravity, atmosphere, temperature, and challenges that make every world feel different. Most planets have one or more Planet Stations, which work as checkpoints and garages where you can build ships and start new missions. When you land on a station, it unlocks permanently and becomes a new place you can launch from. To reach these planets, you build your own modular spaceships and experiment with different parts - electric engines, fuel engines, mixed fuels, solar panels, heat-resistant frames, and more. By completing missions like delivering components between planets, you earn new ship parts that let you create better and more advanced designs. All flights are fully first-person from inside your craft, and because distances are huge, your ship design really matters - some trips will take only minutes, while others can turn into long journeys if your ship is weak. The whole game is about exploring planets, upgrading your ships, unlocking new stations, and trying to make it to your destination without crashing.

This game is awesome. Truly awesome. Love exploring the solar system and encountering new environments, new challenges, and upgrading my arsenal of available tech to meet those challenges. Make ships barebones and functional or fully polished and pretty, or anywhere in-between. Complete objectives on your terms, however you decide you want to tackle them. Learn through trial and error. Design your own solutions, or snag something from the workshop to help you along. I'm really pleased with the content that is already in the game, but I am quite excited that the developer intends to continue updating and adding things for a long time. It's already a wonderful game, and it has the potential to be even more amazing as it expands. I'm only about halfway through the content as of right now and my only regret is that I will reach a point when there are no new places to explore. Not that it could ever really be infinite. But in the meantime there is plenty to do, and even after reaching the final mission I know I'll have plenty to keep me busy as I go back and design new ships to tackle old problems in a unique, fun way.

I really love this game, but I do have to point out it's pretty hard.
The second best spaceship/vehicle builder out there. And since Starbase is not playable anymore, this is the best one to play! And in contrast to something like Stormworks, it has a proper progression and quest system that actually rewards you for (over)engineering your ship. Stormworks always felt like you build only to build. The missions were meh. Here, you build to have a better ship to actually be able to better complete missions. And for the sandbox-builders out there, yes there is an "unlimited blocks" option if you in fact do want to only build.
Easily one of my favorite games of all time. I think we just need more things to do in game relating to being in space, such as space walks or being able to make repairs on the go, but otherwise if you can easily have a ton of fun! This game really inspires creativity and problem solving, while being complex enough to be challenging at times yet simple enough to figure out that the experience is overall very rewarding! It's like if KSP and Space Engineers had a baby, overall just a great game. Worth anyone's money and time to check out!
The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ solar storms just wasting my time. ♥♥♥♥ you dev!
Great game and with good building and great visuals, but uhhh no power limit on cables is desperately needed as an option.
Game where you spend most of the time building a ship and after completing 1 mission, redesigning and fixing all of it since u died flying it manually, adding auto-hover and stibilization, employing your friend to watch the cams and then blaming him for hitting a mountain bc u fell asleep after spending hours doing all that, then unlocking new blocks and scrapping the whole ship and building a new one that will be obsolete in the next 3 missions. I wouldnt want it any other way
Excellent game currently. The game loop of designing, flying and refining spaceships is very satisfying. Other reviewers have mentioned it but during long haul flights there isn't much to do for players who aren't flying the ship, which can get pretty boring. Additional things for the crew to do in flight would be a great addition.
I played over 50h and now I reached a point where I feel complete lost from the dev side. I really want to play the game like its used to. So no sandbox etc. You don´t get a roadmap/questmarks. You just try to fly to planets and find out you are not ablt to land there, because of missing gear. So you check parallel where to get the gear. and fly there for 2h and find out that you missing the bigger door, then you fly to next one and find out that the sun will grill you. I tried a long time wastin 15h of playing for nothing. This is not satisfying at all. Good Thing I really like the techical perspective/building and testing. From that point the game still need more dev and a guidline where to land and do what!!!!
