About
Anomalous takes place in Kosolov. A grim industrial city. Kosolov is a highly controlled and secretive society. It's an industrialized nation. With overwhelming authority and a devotion to its leaders, the citizens endlessly work to death. A hard divide between the secretive upper society and the majority brainwashed working class ensures continuation. Effectively shunned from the rest of the world, leaders of Kosolov have been free to fast-track their unethical scientific experiments to enhance their tyrannical military capabilities and workforce.
To create the ultimate controllable and mindless workforce Kosolov had put in place a plan to revive the dead and set them back to work - benefitting from an already high mortality rate. Scientists have attempted mechanical implants, regenerative biomass, and a host of bizarre experiments. With numerous unforeseen consequences resulting in a catastrophic disaster, the only thing left to do is battle your way out of the city.

Some jank here and there, but it was still good for what it was.
Its not too bad but enemy hit detection is bad at times, grenade launcher doesn't seem to do aoe damage and you lose your weapons any time you restart a level so you pretty much have to quicksave. Some of the weapons feel a bit underwhelming to shoot like the shotgun. The game needs more framerate cap options, you can only lock it up to 120fps. Levels are okay nothing crazy, enemies are alright, its weird that the game seems to have a speed meter like you can bunnyhop and stuff yet for some reason you can't rocket jump. The ending was very underwhelming also but yeah other than that its an okay little shooter. 6/10 maybe get on sale.

This game's got the looks and the music, but the rest feels a bit undercooked. I still really appreciate the effort though! The cons: there's collisions blocking your walking where there shouldn't be, interactions for climbing that disappear when you get to close to the ledges, the level design isn't instinctive and has lots of dead ends.... those are all minor things that I can totally get past and still have fun with the game. They mostly make the game "not final", but whatever. That's fine. The two big problems are the guns and the enemies. The guns don't have any recoil, the machine gun is like a sniper weapon because there's no camera recoil, the shotgun shoots in the same pattern every shot and is REALLY lacking some "oomf" on the sound -- makes it feel like a wet fart. The weapons LOOK good, they don't feel as they should though. The enemies are... well, they're dumb. They seem to have really limited navmeshes even when they detect you that really makes them look like they're on really limited rails. It seems like their pathfinding may be broken (?), I'm not sure. It's weird. It makes them move around in really goofy ways and a lot of the time they won't even move towards you. Their shooting takes a while too, you have plenty of time to shoot at them before they shoot anything back. Sometimes enemies will spawn right into your face and immediately kill you, which feels a bit like a cheap shot. All of this is not exactly bad, but it does take a toll on the immersion. Will I still play this game? Yep. Byron Dunwoody did a really great job visually and the music really kicks up the game's vibes and I'm still enjoying the game because of this, despite everything listed above, and that's really something. Can't wait to see what Byron comes up with next! I'd love to see a bit more solid boomshoot from 'em!
