Reviews
It's great! It is related to X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter and Battlefield 2, but decides to go fully maximalist in customization options and scale. Truly an impressive feat. And you can host your own customized server with bots, just like the good old days!
Not only is the game cheap, it is also very well made. They could ask for $30 and I would pay it. The AI are competent enough to be engaging and the gameplay is incredibly reminiscent of Battlefront 2 (2005). Give it a go, you can get a feel for the game in under an hour even with the tutorial.

Games like this are why I wish we had a medium option between thumbs up and thumbs down. The game is fun and I recommend giving it a try but it's hectic, confusing and the controls are a little janky. It's got all the right bones to be an amazing game and with some time, polish, and most importantly practice as a player I think it'll shine. For an Indie foray into the Battlefront/Planetside mass warfare genre my hats are off to the devs. it may not feel right for me in it's current form but I can see myself enjoying it a lot as i put more time into it and the devs keep working on it.
wasn't great... tried to give it a good solid go and gameplay felt so clunky and mediocre
I have really enjoyed it; and I have been sad that the servers have been nearly fully empty whenever I log in for a while now.
Love this game so far. Very recomended :)
9/10. Angels Fall First is a perfect throwback sci-fi FPS for fans of Battlefield ground combat and Battlefront space combat, with the customization to put either to shame. The developers aimed to create the ultimate 2000s battle shooter with the perfect blends of combined arms ground combat, frigates-and-fighters space combat, and remarkably deep loadout customization. They nailed it. My favorite part is the space combat. Check the moments at the end for details. Visuals are quite detailed and pure BF2142 (not 2042) chunky sci-fi vibes. Fake guns, spaceships shaped a little like bugs, all fun and cool. The game's player base is a mix of fresh newbies and early-access veterans of up to 10 years, all of whom seem to be in the game for the fun. I have encountered many teachers and no griefers. Multiplayer is quick and easy, with an instant action button and a server browser. Some servers are all maps, some are space only, et cetera. Oh, and if you don't like them? There are AI bots to fill servers at your whim. Battles are a combo of three factors: setting, format, and scale. Setting can be space or ground combat. Format can be attack/defense or territory control. Scale on the ground ranges from infantry only battles to combined arms with recon vehicles, personnel carriers and infantry fighters, main battle tanks, and even small mechs. Scale in space varies between fighters only, corvettes only, carriers only, and mixed ships. Gameplay is tweaked most effectively by loadout customization. Customization is a huge boon for this game. Loadouts are quite flexible, but roles are quite important on the battlefield and budgeting them properly takes practice and progress. One of my favorite aspects of this game is that pretty much any tool can be used from the get-go, but your progress levels determine your loadout budgets. Cosmetics involve camo patterns and HSV color selection, and I haven't messed with them much yet. I've spent the most of my time in this game by playing a variety of maps, focusing on combined arms both in space and on ground. My three favorite moments have been as follows: - When fighting in urban streets over territory points, I took an elevated position as a sniper and supported two different objective firefights while holding my own objective against a nearby squad. I escaped via rooftop access as they took my objective. I then used a sensor grenade and my close-quarters backup SMG to support our retake effort. - When fighting over territories in mixed capital-fighter combat, I noticed that our corvette had been spawned, but was unmanned. I helmed the ship, and as I piloted the corvette toward an objective, a handful of other teammates spawned aboard and began manning or repairing our various systems, until we had ourselves a functional capital ship! We then captured and held multiple objectives against fighter and bomber pickets, and even a ship-to-ship broadside exchange. - When defending in a space battle, I manned the starboard gun of a dropship with a squad of marines in cargo. I then shot down an interceptor on our way to board an enemy capital ship, where we spread out and wrought havoc upon the enemy ship's systems, forcing them onto the defensive to allow our team to retake our defense points. I even stole a weapon out of the enemy armory when I ran out of ammo. Why are you still reading this? This game is sick. Buy it and find me on a US-AllMaps server.
This games good. Very good. Very high quality and you can see the devs worked on it. Sure, graphics may not be toptier, but theres a ton of fun here. Infinite potential. The maps are beautiful. I've never seen video game maps this detailed. 7/10, I think the sound can be improved. -1 point because theres no fishes in majuro. I'll add it when they add it back. But really though, Dont even read the reviews. Just buy it aldredy.
Janky and good fun
For the size of the team working on this it's very impressive, everything feels very smooth, something a lot of games miss is smooth freeriding in transports, usually you get thrown around or just get pushed around a little bit when walking around inside a transport without interactive seats, not this game, I can't tell what direction we're going, or if were even moving unless I look outside the cockpit window or turrets. Gameplay is pretty fun, there's definitely some jank but personally I think it's part of the fun, the cinematic when you call in a vehicle in ground battles is very cool, the only critizism I have is that later on in battles when your team has pushed further in, having to drive a tank all the way from the edge of the map is a bit irritating sometimes, but this is just came out of EA so I think it'll be smoothed out later. Otherwise fantastic game, super excited to see where this goes and massive congrats on reaching 1.0 to the dev team! 100% worth the cost.
