Honestly IMO one of the best modern boomer shooters. The graphics and level design are amazing, and it's so atmospheric. I plan on beating the game this weekend, as I've been putting it off for some time.
Amid Evil is one of the definitive hell yeah simulators.
This games drives itself as a spiritual successor to the Heretic + HeXen games. It has everything you remember from those games but without the notoriously annoying level progression from HeXen. Solid boomer shooter with little legitimate drawbacks for what it set itself out to achieve. It’s as simple to pick up as DOOM, as diverse and fun as H+H, and as fast as Quake. This deserves all its praise. That being said, I could never get into it. Everything about the game is TOO much like the classics. I found it falls under the Boomer Shooter “curse” where everything made feels too barebones like it attempts super hard to replicate what brought people back to those classics decades later and failed to understand that it’s more than gameplay and appearance. This is a usual issue with boomer shooters though so take MY personal feelings with a grain of salt. It’s a great game, just didn’t do it for me.

Fun boomer shooter, kind of a mix between Serious Sam and Heretic/Hexen. Level design is generally really good, though I got turned around a few times throughout the game. The weapons are all unique and creative, each useful throughout the game for different areas and situations.
