AMID EVIL

Fun game, is a good challenge at time but still fun

Great game! I'm at the halfway point of the second to last world, but I can already tell you that the game is worth it. While it isn't a ultra-fast hyper violent boomer shooter, as it is closer to Hexen and Heretic, it's level design is still good, the weapons are creative and pretty fun to use, and the enemies can be pretty tough to fight against. The game might be too easy at times tho, since some weapons are straight up op. The worlds you traverse are pretty beautiful, their lore is fun to follow, and the beings you meet in every single one of them add on to that. The graphics are stunning and don't try to imitate retro graphics. My only major complaint is that the game starts getting good way too slow - I personally found the themes of the first couple of worlds pretty boring unfortunately (thought that's subjective), and only later down the line does this game really pick up the pace when it comes to atmosphere. Oh and I can't remember a single song since they're all orchestral or ambient. But if you're fine with this stuff, and just want to play Quake with magic and insane visuals, totally recommend the buy.

Overall thoughts are... it's alright. Goes on a bit long, does feel a bit repetitive at times, and while not bad... like you could be doing something better. Still, it's an ok timer killer, and if you want a game to play on hot days it wont run your graphics card much at all. For the most part it works ok... though there are a few issues like some odd stutters/hitches in the final levels, that given all the platforming and abyss to fall into isn't ideal, not sure what's with that area but there's like 5 places while moving around/jumping you just get sudden hitches or issues. On the other hand... that final place is pretty cool looking for the most part, so mixed feeling but overall posotive there. In general, that games... ok, not great, not bad, just kinda ok, an alright thing to leave in the background to play when you want something random to kill a bit of time with, and for some people, it might become a lot more than that.

this game is a whole lot like heretic and hexen, in gameplay, enemies, enviornment and weapons (without the tedious switch huntin of hexen) with cool graphics and a not so bad story where you play as a mysterious protagonist called "the champion" who must eliminate a sacred land of evil forces (the enemies), its very great!
