Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.71/day in the week to Aug 8 → 3.29/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A really good re-imagine of the "core aspect" of the old first game. Quality graphics, quality acting and voice work, good story in my view and while it has several endings. You dont need to play "perfect" to get a satisfying one. It is more that the different endings are a what if bonus. Which is how it should be since playing a whole game and getting the cheap ending in order to force you to play the game several times is boring and I am glad they did not go that route. The game is more an adventure -> action game, rather than a strait up action adventure. There is some combat, but the adventure and exploration of the house and such is a bigger focus. You ether play as the man or women, but do keep in mind that the choice at the start is permanent. I would recommend playing the women first since her story is better and less strait forward than the mans. Replayability comes from playing your second choice on the second playthrough because even whole "missions" are different at some points and their encounters and personal story are different as well too some degree. If you played the original that was made in 1992. You will maybe notice a few call backs to that game, but they are barley noticeable and therefor fun for those that get it, while not being too on the nose for people that never experienced the first game. You do not need any of the DLC. If you get the game on a sale you wont be disappointed because this is practically a AAA adventure game.

This is a story-driven game. The plot is interesting and heavily laden with Lovecraftian elements. It's clear the developers wanted the setting to pop, and they succeeded in making it feel like being dropped down into late 1920s Louisiana. As for the atmosphere: at first it feels a bit noir (especially when playing as the detective, Carnby), but even as the game progressed and the horror elements became more prevalent, I never found it scary. The combat is serviceable but unremarkable. The puzzles are straightforward and easy to solve, which is fine. Puzzles in a non-puzzle games don't need to be hard. I think the best part of the game is the story...but the way the game devs prioritized story over gameplay made it increasingly frustrating to play. The game is separated into five chapters, and you have to be very careful in chapter four, because one particular objective (that you're given no indication is special), triggers a linear series of cutscenes and events with no off-ramp. If there were rooms you hadn't yet explored, items you hadn't found, objectives you hadn't completed, tough luck. (For a completionist like myself, this is maddening.) Another consequence of this strong narrative focus is that the game is increasingly heavy-handed in controlling your movements. Doors you unlocked or unbolted become suddenly impassible, forcing you to backtrack and take longer routes, just so you can be made to "stumble upon" a planned cutscene. This is made worse by the fact that the map is supposed to show you which doors are open and which are locked, but it doesn't update in these events. Without any visible clue on the map or in the environment, you're left just wandering around, trying door after door until you find one that will open. I think it's a good story, and a decent game, and I'm glad I played it...but the second half of the game can be really frustrating.
Alone in the Dark is a pretty good game. It’s a real shame that Pieces Interactive shut down. After AitD, I would have liked to see more from them. The game kind of flew under my radar, which, in hindsight, is a real shame. How can I best describe the game's atmosphere? I'd say "Eternal Darkness." The game has a great atmosphere, and I think the mood and the story are among its greatest strengths. Anyone looking for just “good game- and gunplay” will be disappointed; the combat remains rudimentary, though it serves its purpose. As I said, the game’s strengths are its fantastic atmosphere, the dialog, and its puzzles. I'll remember this game as "very good," and it will become one of those games I'll definitely enjoy revisiting, like a cozy Indiana Jones movie.
I beat the game as both characters. Fantastic first try by this dev team which may sadly never see a sequel due to the game’s poor sales and the closure of Pieces Interactive. I think unfortunately they just made one too many design mistakes in what is otherwise a really well-made game. I’d love to see other remakes of the classic Alone in the Dark games; the vibe of this game is immaculate and has left me wanting more. Shame on THQ Nordic for not realizing the potential of this as a remake series to rival Resident Evil. This game is great, it just needs some bug fixing and polish which they have *not* provided after closing the dev studio. Corporate greed strikes again. Anyway, if you enjoy survival horror, this is definitely one you don't want to skip. It's a fun game that is respectful to the original.
es interesante el lore de como se originó todo etc
I personally rate this game a 7.5 out of 10. Good and decent game. The paranormal world shifts and stuff i was Not a fan off and wish it just would have stayed in it's brilliant time period it started in. I would recommend one play through for sure. There are some flaws in the combat and movement systems, but it's Not so bad that you can enjoy the game. This has beautiful graphics and eerie gothic environments. Good character acting and timing. Three main weapons, ammo finds, health finds and side weapons to throw at enemies. The enemies list is really short and Not too extreme at all. The puzzles are what really make this game a challenge and are quite brilliant.
fun
Honestly one of the best Lovecraftian / Cosmic Horror games I've played. Gameplay wise there's a bit of minor jank typical of modern games, and a few things could've been tweaked ever so slightly. But it's absolutely fine and does the job well enough. If anything, I could've wanted a bit more puzzles, and slightly more difficult ones at that. But the option to turn on or off certain features common in modern games does help a little bit, at least. Getting the choice between "modern" and "old school" when starting a new game was appreciated. Story, acting, visuals, music, and atmosphere were all pretty amazing in my book! 100% in ~36 hours. (Could definitely be done much quicker.)
