Almost Alive is redefining the role playing tactical games with an awesome fast paced but complexe real time combat system in a mad hand drawn post apocalyptic world that features character mental sanity, destructible environment, a cover system, tons of loot, a none linear story, and a lot of humor.

Мёртвая игра. Забудьте
Now, before I go on to praise this game, you need to understand that there isn't much here, and I have no idea if there will be more, which is just about the most sad thing I can say for a game in my *life*. It hasn't been updated in a *long* time, and while the dev has just given a little update talking about new content coming in like mutant raptors and new levels, I have no idea if that's going to *actually* happen given it's been like 3 years, three literal years. All that you get when you buy this is two maps with varying amounts of quests on them, a ton of guns to play with, all sorts of enemies, a slightly unfinished level/skill tree and AI teammates to recruit. For now, it's basically a loop where you wake up on the beach each time you get to the transition to the mysterious 'third map' which is in some sort of base. As you enter, you 'wake up' back at the start of the first map with all your loot and levels in-tact, but with the maps reset. Go get 'em again, tiger. Now, onto reviewing the game. It's brutal, it's dark, it's violent, and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun. The guns feel insanely satisfying to shoot as you normally spray bullets *everywhere* in the general direction you're aiming. However when you get in the mood to be careful and snipey and quiet, having those single satisfying shots that literally explode bandits is just as awesome. There are a lot of be guns to found, ranging from standard bullet based weapons from light pistols to heavy rifles and miniguns, laser weapons, plasma weapons and my favorite, gauss weapons. All of which have miniguns, snipers, machine-guns, shotguns, any type of gun you can think of. Now while there might no t be much here, and it *is* unfinished, what's actually here is really fun and is easily replayable to see how you can go through the quests in different ways. You can go with different groups of people to help in quests, you can go ahead and just kill everyone on the map if you're strong enough, and there is a really cool 'crazy' mechanic that sticks with you through the loops. As you go through the game, lose teammates, go on killing sprees or talk to people in certain ways you'll gain 'crazies' that will effect how your character works, and if you go and lose it, you'll actually lose control of your character as he has his freakout. A break is a real concern in the game as it can cause your character to turn on his friends because lets be honest, the only people to have survived in this world, are the worst of the worst, and they're all going to have problems. If you're into isometric shooters that acts more like a little playground this is your thing, just don't expect it to take long to get through without some replays. You're going to have to find your own fun eventually, as it only took me about 6 hours to get through the little campaign that's here, and that's with someone who takes a real long time with games like this. I like to wander about, searching for supplies, guns, ammo and the like. What I played, I loved, and I sincerely hope the dev comes back to make this thing what it deserves to be. He's apparently a very busy man, and in the update, he talks about how in the past 3 years of nothing, he's only worked on it for about a year. He's trying his best but dang I wish he got more support so he could work on this thing full time. EDIT: It is currently 2024 and we have seen one single update in 2021, and yet again the developer has gone blank on us, disappeared once again. This game will never get finished, and you will only be able to judge the game on what is here, not the promise it gives. It's been more than 6 years since it's early access release and we have gotten *nothing*. The only thing the new update added was an experimental survival map where you can test the new enemies. That's it. No story updates, nothing really new, and while the survival is fun and the enemies terrifying, it wasn't worth 3 years of waiting, and if this game *fully* came out tomorrow, it would only be worth it a *bit*. However, we probably have another 10+ years of waiting, seeing at the pace at which updates are coming out now. This developer, while passionate and obviously full of good ideas and good gameplay, is NOT reliable enough to wait for this game to come out. Enjoy what you have now and be happy with it, because I am 90% sure we are NOT getting more.

Good concept, had fun but the game got completely abandoned.
This could have been one of the best indie games of all time a true return to RPG's but allase the game is dead has been for over 6 years now.
pretty cool game, reminiscent of fallout 1 and 2. combat is very tactical and unforgiving, with fights usually only going for a few action- packed seconds, your character can only survive a few bullet wounds, so any mistake will put you all the way back to the start of the game. would recommend.
Almost alive is a game like no other, a game that mixes mental health issue's and certain combat skills to become the ultimate SPED soldier. You found some drugs? Good now take them all and O.D, found a bandit camp? Go in guns blazing and kill the guy who you need a mission from it does not affect game-play or the story at all... hell your story could be that your just some pacifist Junkie that decides that he wants to be suicidal so he goes out of control and kills himself. That's right you can lose control of your guy when your mental health is low and if you don't save your guy in time he can either kill other's by breaking out in a rage, Commit Suicide or run away like a pansy or you could just start taking all the drugs in your inventory. Final score for this game is a 10/10 would get shot in the head and become retarded again.
Try it!!!
A genuine reinterpitation of genre defining games like Fallout, Arcanum and a slew of other personal favorites through 25 years og gaming. IT includes an almost upresedented character creation, with an actuall Choice of being an neo-nazi, suicidal, sniper, insane, officer, with 60+? Defining positive and negative traits. Real time 3 person gameplay with an suprisingly Smooth gunplay. Real consequenses and gameplay that differs Based on builds and in-game choices. My only gripe with this game AS a whole is the fact that One MAD turk is behind it all. Slow updates and developtment is the caveat by that limiting reality. The sad fact is that this game IS our generations Fallout, but what it needs to fullfill that promise is backing. I have no doubts Blir Mr. Cerimovic brilliance, but both he and this games deserves the resources of an publisher and game studio. I wholehearthedly reccomend this game as it is, but i know that IT should and could be an genre defining game of the decade.
.
Unique art style that doesn't work imo.
