Play as either Nairi, an imprisoned Dryad fighting for her freedom, or Gilrock, a drunken Dwarven Lord on a quest to restore his family's honour (or just to kick some arse!). The Age of Fear series is a deep and complex turn-based strategy that fuses a tabletop wargame with RPG elements.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Aug 23 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Play as either Nairi, an imprisoned Dryad fighting for her freedom, or Gilrock, a drunken Dwarven Lord on a quest to restore his family's honour (or just to kick some arse!). Teaming up with a bloodthirsty Drider warrior on one hand or a whip-smart spellcaster on the other, these heroes are prepared for the worst.
AGE OF FEAR is a long-running series of fantasy turn-based strategy games loved by fans for its tabletop wargame battle system and in-depth RPG customization. Age of Fear 3: The Legend is our third addition to the series which offers enhancements like World Map, Relics, Global Events and procedurally generated battles! (scroll down for a list of features)

⭐HEX-FREE BATTLES - test your tactics with a novel movement system where size matters and units aren't constrained by artificial grids!
⭐OPEN WORLD - are you bored with the main storyline? No worries, you can always take a side-quest or play procedurally-generated battles. Play this game as you want!
⭐GLOBAL EVENTS that occur while exploring the World Map, à la Battle Brothers. This feature is still being developed and could serve to provide more lore and fun unit interactions conditional on the player's party!
⭐FACTION BASES which can be upgraded as you explore the Age of Fear world. Investing in base upgrades will unlock additional recruitable units, skills and locations to explore
⭐MERCENARIES - recruit your troops from multiple races and factions! Will a Dwarven Warrior work with a bloodthirsty Orc?
⭐ALIGNMENTS such as Evil and Holy. Units from opposite sides won’t like each other and may desert. A bit of diplomacy (or charisma!) is needed to manage such relationships.
⭐EXTENDED STORY including many sub-quests, optional events, alternative endings, more detailed lore, etc.
⭐FREQUENTLY UPDATED - we take our work seriously and patch our games often with new features and content. Also, whenever possible, those updates are back-ported to all our previous games!

⭐FANTASY STORYTELLING - get wrapped up in two separate storylines featuring a motley crew of characters, globetrotting adventures and fantasy shenanigans galore. All hand-illustrated!
⭐PERMANENT DEATH - accept the grim realities of death where all units that fall in battle stay dead... unless an evil Necromancer raises them as Zombies.

it very goog
I fell in love with TBS genre because of this game. It has character, ambiance, personality, and badass, addictive battles. Yeah, it is a bit rough around some edges, but the gameolay is so fun and addictive, I just keep going back for more. Love it!

This is the third release in the Age of Fear series, one of the series I know of with the longest running developer support. It is a fun game with a sly sense of humour. I have played all the games in the series, and I have loved all of them. Simple gameplay loop with more depth than I know by a lot. I particularily like building powerful armies with strange or exotic combinations of moves, abilities, and passives. It's not a roguelike. This is similar to traditional role playing games, with a more rogue like system. If the campaigns could be played in a day, it would probly be a roguelike. I often find roguelikes have too much RNG; I get too invested in characters for roguelikes. This game scratches that itch. Note that, in order to make it more roguelike, one needs to build a team with some optional settings enabled. You'll likely figure it out.
Very nice little game, plenty of different units, a nice variability of skills, mercenaries are both a welcome variation and a pain in the neck, dialogues between heroes are funny, and the top-down view is perfect for that kind of game. Many battles, a good number of them optional. Things that could be even better IMHO : - the battlefield size could stand to be a bit larger sometimes - the starting area could be larger at times as well. As it is, it basically never provides enough room for tactical manoeuvering - while the levelling of units provide several options, most units end up having all skills available if they survive because only a few of them have branching career paths. Having more mutually exclusive choices would bring more variety. - one of the battles was very buggy for me
(the one where you fight Lexa)
: the game hung near the end of the opponent's turn, forcing me to quit and start the game about twenty times at different points in the battle. Sometimes changing the tactical sequence of *my* game turn unlocked the opponent's next turn, sometimes not. Since it was a campaign battle, it was frustrating, but I eventually managed to complete it. But overall, a very nice game at a reasonable price (and a must have if it goes on sale and you happen to like turn-based tactical fantasy skirmish games). I've bought AoF 2 and 4, and all DLCs and expect having a blast.
I am late to the AoF game but I am enjoying the heck out of number 3. I am not a big fan of playing Evil characters but I am very tempted to buy them all at the moment. I would suggest that someone considering the game try the Free game. I loved the Free Game so much I bought AoF 3 and I think that the game will give you an honest understanding if these games are for you. Just as a warning, the free game does not contain a story line it just lets you understand the mechanics of the games' combat system and character development. Positives: Good tactical combat (melee, melee and spell casters are well balanced) Good character development (some depth but clear enough to make good guesses as to what will work) Chance to mix and match different factions Character Classes and Factions are quite well differentiated Game has a sense of humor and a good story line Cons: Quests are a bit ho hum at times (Overall story line is fun tho)
game was everything expected. just what i wanted. i miss back when a lot of games were turn based. also as a note the makers give little updates for free a little content here a little there. kinda nice even if its only a new unit or single quest.
silly and lots of fun--just make to save--alot
