Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 20: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

The ultimate 4K nostalgia trip that brilliantly highlights where a legendary franchise began. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is a magnificent tribute to the 1997 masterpiece that fundamentally shaped the RTS genre. For anyone who grew up listening to the hum of villagers chopping wood and the terrifying trumpets of an enemy war elephant approach, firing this up is pure magic. Forgotten Empires did an incredible job rebuilding the game's visuals for modern displays; the 4K assets, fluid destruction animations, and completely re-recorded orchestral soundtrack are breathtaking. It looks and sounds exactly how your childhood memory tells you it did, maintaining the distinctive, bright aesthetic of antiquity while successfully wiping away decades of literal pixelated dust. Where this definitive edition draws a line in the sand, however, is its unwavering loyalty to the original gameplay. Unlike its massively popular brother, AoE II: DE, the developers intentionally chose not to fundamentally alter the core balance or modernly streamline the mechanics here. This is a 1997 engine at its heart. You still have to manage tight population caps, farms are structurally rigid blocks, and the unit pathfinding retains that classic, stubborn jank where a squad of hoplites will occasionally decide that walking into a cliffside is the best route to an enemy barracks. It demands an incredibly heavy amount of micro-management, making the single-player campaigns a wonderfully brutal test of old-school RTS endurance. Ultimately, this is the perfect "history lesson" and palette cleanser for strategy fans. It doesn't have the infinite post-launch support or massive active player counts of the later entries, but it has an undeniable, pure charm. It’s a beautifully wrapped time capsule that lets you queue up units, build majestic stone walls, and, yes, type "BIGDADDY" into the chat bar to spawn a rocket-launching sports car in crisp high-definition. If you are looking for a highly competitive, perfectly polished modern esport, you will likely find the legacy quirks frustrating. But if you want to relive the dawn of strategic gaming with a spectacular modern coat of paint, it is an essential piece of history to own. 9/10 — Wololo.
