I loved every minute of playing this game, and it bums me out to see it with Mixed reviews when I don't think it deserves it. Notice that most all negative reviews say "This isn't as good as Binding of Isaac", but it doesn't have to be. It's a cheap, fun game that was easy to put 50 hours in. Not every game has to be a complete masterpiece worthy of a thousand hours of gameplay like Binding of Isaac is to be worth buying, and just because this is the same genre doesn't mean they both can't be good. The comments about grindy gameplay are definitely on point, especially towards the end of the game, but if that alone doesn't put you off the rest of the game is great and definitely worth buying in my opinion. A Wizard's Lizard brings a lot of interesting things to this type of roguelike, my favourite being the living lizard/spirit lizard half-death system and the way the same dungeon can be played differently depending on which form you're in.
This game is a gateway to rogue-likes for casual players. The system is fairly straight-forward, enemies move fairly slowly, and you generally have a fair bit of time to react. It also has native mouse and controller support (twin-sticks) to cover most of your bases. This isn't anything with deep gameplay, for good and for bad. The benefit is that there isn't a barrier for new players, especially new players unfamiliar with the genre. The downside is that there may not be enough substance to keep you coming back for more. Controls are smooth, graphics look nice, not much to complain about overall outside of the gameplay loop itself. So should you get this game? Depends on what you want. If you want a more casual game, or want to try a roguelike but aren't sure about the difficulty of the genre, try this one. If you're looking for a more standard roguelike experience, this one probably isn't for you.

So you like Binding of Isaac, but get brought down by the dark themes and, lets face it, crushing difficulty? (Platinum God-tier Isacc players can keep their opinions to themselves; for many, it's a hard game) This may be the game for thouse who feel that way; it's not what I'd call easy, but, the bullet hell factor is cranked down a bit from BoI. Cute art, well made; this one is a lot of fun.
Cute game. Not the most memorable, but good nonetheless.
Love my Roguelieks and had a lot of fun with this :)
Got a pretty boom spear Faced a wall Boom Me dead 10/10
Although it is cute & enjoyable, you can quickly see all the game has to offer. The gameplay gets stale pretty quick, content is repetetive and not much of it to add. Controls are pretty clunky, but the game is really easy nonetheless. I beat it on my second attempt.
Not a style of game I particularly enjoy, but if you like wave-based action games it's a fun time.
It's cute but you run out of content and challenge after a couple hours. Get it on sale.
This is one of my favorite games ever. I love going back to the beginning and starting all over again. The graphics and characters are delightful and the advancement is a good pace. It's just fun to play.
