A Date with Death

I've played a decent amount of dating sims, and this one definitely blew me away. First off, the voice acting for Casper is done stunningly and pulled me right into the world. Along with that the sprites for him are so cute and simultaneously handsome. The story is also very interesting and I like how it develops over the small amount of time given to the player. I should note, I would recommend buying the DLC (beyond the bet) because it fleshes out the story more and in the base game I felt like the endings felt a little abrupt, whereas the DLC fully finished the story. Not to say you CAN'T play it without the DLC, I just think it makes the experience better (plus you get NSFW patch for free with the DLC). Also EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME HAS NO AI!!! SO BONUS POINTS AND TY DEVS FOR NOT USING AI!!!! Only things that fell a little flat for me where that you can go in and customize your own character sprite, pronouns, etc, but your physical sprite of YOUR character that you design is never used except for a still image in your 'chat profile'. It made me sad that the character representing me wasn't really shown at all, especially because one of the things you can pay money for in the deluxe version of the game were more outfits. I also felt like sometimes (at least base game) there weren't too many choices to pick from when interacting with casper, and so the conversations felt a BIT limited. I do feel like the story made up for that, but it was just a bit frustrated. The rest of this review deals with the NSFW portions of patch, fair warning: I liked the NSFW sections quite a bit. The voice acting was good, and they actually gave you a fair bit of choice when it came to how you wanted to do the scenes. For example, you could pick which parts you had, and whether you were the top or bottom, allowing for anyone of any preference to enjoy the scenes. Granted, during the NSFW scenes it didn't seem like there were THAT many dialogue options, but the beautiful illustrations made up for it and it made the DLC 100% worth it. The NSFW scenes also tied in pretty well lore wise so it didn't just seem like, "OH AND WE'RE HAVING SEX NOW" they made it work into the story and I liked that. All that to say I definitely recommend the game, but think the experience is best had with the DLC (beyond the bet).
