Super excited after listening to the JP preview. Can't wait to have another reason to replay again and again while waiting for ADWD 2 <3
I strongly believe this is the best visual novel game I've ever played. I normally don't have strong attachments to replay games just to see the alternative endings and responses by picking different answers, but this game hooked me the moment I started playing. Beautiful artwork, funny banter between the MC and the love interest, interesting world building, and the blatant love poured into this game by its creators. Strongly recommend playing the demo and purchasing the DLC for the extra goodies!
I love this game so freaking much, voice acting is amazing, the art style is scrumptious and I love the apartment, character, and pet customization! I'm still trying to get all the endings, I'm pretty sure there are 4, but anyway 5 stars I love it <3
Great plot, terrible MC. A massive downgrade from the base game. I do recommend Beyond the Bet, but only just. The base game of A Date with Death was a charming, well-written visual novel with a lovely dynamic and dialogue choices that felt natural and relatable. Sadly, Beyond the Bet loses much of that balance. The actual plot is interesting, and Grim remains quite compelling. That said, even Grim occasionally feels over-written, repeatedly emphasizing just how much he loves you, how important you are to him, and how deeply he cares, to the point where it starts to feel more like reassurance than natural dialogue. The Main Character has simply become unbearably immature. The dialogue options are packed with forced, childish teasing and cringey jokes, such as the whole “soul baby” nonsense, which repeatedly shatter the immersion. The problem is not that the game allows you to joke around. That would be perfectly fine. The problem is that it often gives you no option to respond seriously, even when the story itself is dealing with mortality, fear, love, and the possibility of losing each other. At those moments, being forced to play the MC as an infantile idiot feels completely at odds with the tone of the story. I frequently found myself wishing for just one normal, sincere response option. The Interwoven ending was the saving grace for me because it felt realistic, mature, and emotionally appropriate. Unfortunately, getting there while fighting against the protagonist’s personality was a chore. So yes, I recommend it for the lore, the plot, and Grim, but only barely. Be prepared to be deeply irritated by your own character. And one last thing: do not skip the credits. Let them play all the way through. There’s a little extra waiting at the end, and it’s absolutely worth it.
думаю теперь это одна из моих самых любимых игр, особенно в этом жанре
