For a free adventure game with multiple locations, puzzles, exploration and a story built around historical events, 1940 has surprisingly little Steam integration. There are no Steam achievements or Trading Cards, despite plenty of obvious milestones that could have been used for achievements, such as completing the different locations, solving puzzles and recovering the Mahjong tiles. The game also feels quite niche and linear, with its historical subject matter and Traditional Chinese-only presentation making it difficult for a wider audience to get into. It is an interesting educational concept, but it feels more like a museum project turned into a game than a fully polished Steam release.
