Though this game promised 1000 Amps, it is merely an Amp.
I'm reviewing Steam games in alphabetical order and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/7Ysf9gMKse4 Prefer to Read? 1000 Amps is a puzzle platformer/Metroidvania with a minimalist style in terms of graphics and audio, but it certainly goes all out on the puzzle mechanics. Every room is dark, and tiles only appear when touched by you. Finding all the light blocks returns light to the room permanently, and finding more light blocks within a room increasing your jump height, allowing for more exploration without cheapening future puzzles. Exploration is non-linear in most sections and you'll stumble across multiple upgrades, like teleportation. Everything culminates in a boss fight, that unfortunately isn't as well implemented as it could be, as it's not actually beatable when you first encounter it. However, the warning to tell you this is easily missed and doesn't repeat after the first time, which resulted in my wasting nearly an hour trying to beat an unbeatable boss. That can absolutely be put down as a skill issue though, and the rest of the game makes up for these mistakes. The puzzles won't blow you away but they are solid, and this is an experience you can beat in 2-3 hours, or double that if you want to solve every room and find every secret. tl;dr cute puzzle platformer with some neat ideas.

Cool little combatless puzzle metroidvania. Timing required occasionally. Quite unique. Highly recommended.
A simple puzzle platformer, or so it seems, at first. Slowly you begin to realise the complexity of the interlocking puzzles and achieve a really satisfying sense of how this works. Highly recommended for a game where you will not have to spend 3 hours learning the interface, but you can just get into it and play.
I love this game on a conceptual level, and I want to like it, I really do. But something that the tags do not describe is that this game has what I like to call "tightly timed puzzles" -- you need to complete the puzzle within a tight timeframe, or otherwise you're back to the start. In this game, it is manifested by
creatures that will shut down your lights
, and while there is a pattern, there are so many of them in the rooms that it is of no much help. The abundance of them means that you are basically fighting against the clock regardless, much like in games such as Low Oxygen. In the words of the great Gamechamp3000, "I suck at video games". And I hate when they make puzzles into timed things like this, even moreso because you may reach a point where they're unavoidable. I think I have reached one such point. I would also put the fact that you jump with the "up" button as a negative, because that makes your movements feel all the more cramped, but seeing how
the entire point is that your jump improves when you turn on lights
, it may be an intentional mechanic. I don't particularly agree with the philosophy of cramping the entire control scheme of your game to a tight corner of the keyboard to artificially inflate the difficulty, but YMMV. I also think it is worth noting that you cannot change the resolution from a small window. Not that I think that is a straight negative, but it will definitely be an unpleasant surprise for some.
Not bad...fun little platformer...wears out it's welcome rather quickly....
Bardzo dużo funu, taka mini Metroidvania urocza, gorąco polecam.
探索有趣,隐藏藏的有点深,boss战烦
