*Spoiler Warning* Z.A.T.O is an insightful story that highlights the story of Asya Shubina, who holds an uncanny appreciation for everything in the world (Including the introduction) yet the only thing she cannot appreciate or love is herself. Personally I think its the most central theme for me, the idea of self-hatred and constant self-flagellation. I'm certain some parts resonate more for others, but the persistent stubbornness to refuse your own 'good' comes to me as the most powerful. There is a consistently ironic nature in how she is able to find the good in every human, and event but because she perceives herself as something less than human she is almost desperately and maniacally grateful towards the world, this ironic nature continues into how she believes she cannot be kind like ira or emulate the 'beauty' she sees but its contradicted by quite clearly what Marina thinks of her. The bittersweet ending of Asya manages to show how she is able to see herself as more human because once the memories fog she loses that shame of 'existing', built from her social isolation with Tosya likely being a Tulpa and prior traumatic experiences which personally I wish would be explored further. Nevertheless to add on a more unique perspective I believe Tosya, who becomes replaced by 'me' in the captions are more direct by pointing to us the viewer as we see Asya in first person directly gazing at us for the first time. It is the final note to the audience, that "I love you". Thus, how Z.A.T.O shows the unique perspective of Asya Shubina, who comes to love the world and everything in it, including herself. extra note - There is certainly some criticisms/reservations I have about the settings and characters, but ultimately comes down to wishing for more clarity (aka more story) of the world.
