Alright, so if you saw a reel or tiktok with Yu-Gi-Oh Power of Chaos and you said you miss it so maybe there's a newer game you can play, you should read this.
Here's how a normal PvP battle goes:
1. You toss the coin, whoever wins the toss, decides if they go first or 2nd, it doesn't really matter.
2. If your opponent is first, you can go make a coffee, smoke a cigar, get married, make 2-3 kids, it will take some time until your opponent finishes using 15 cards in the first round's main phase.
3. If you are first, do your turn in 30 seconds, then follow the advice at point 2.
4. Once your opponent finishes their 20-step combo and summons 5 2000+ monsters on the field, it's your turn again, pray you draw Dark Hole or Raigheki.
5. You didn't because you don't use them, and if you did, one of those 5 monsters surely can negate it. If not, your opponent still has 5 cards in their hand because you lost track of how many he used during his 20-step combo, maybe he stole some from the deck, so they will still negate it.
6. Just end your turn cause if you surrender, you won't get any progress.
7. Your opponent does another 20-step combo, although he could just go to battle phase and end the game.
8. After waiting another 3-5 minutes, your opponent finally attacks you and you lose.
Alright, so now that you know how a game goes, let's talk about the cards. There's thousands of cards, you never heard of them, they all have effects and special summon, link summon and maybe you can even summon the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ if you are lucky. Don't bother reading them anyway, just click stuff game tells you to click.
The progression is quite good.. just kidding, you get gems and some cards, useless anyway, because you have to build a 20-step combo and whoever gets the cards to do the combo in the 1st main phase, wins.
This game is boring, it's nothing close to the OG Yu-Gi-Oh, it's just a cashgrab to build the most complex combo deck, if you are lucky and your opponent messes up a combo, he will surrender and you win.
Out of 50 games with players, maybe I actually played more than 3 battle phases 2-3 times. Other than that, the game ends in the 2nd battle phase, either I win because he couldn't do his combo, or I lose.
The OG yu-gi-oh counted on the heart of the cards as well as some long term strategy building, not summoning 5 monsters in a single round. That was a rare thing to happen, here it's in every game.
Oh yeah, remember when you had to tribute summon for anything over 4 stars? Yeah that's not happening here, every other card has a special summon condition so there's no satisfaction when you do manage to summon blue eyes white dragon.
Overall, the game is stupid, boring, repetitive, has nothing to do with the yu-gi-oh dueling other than the name. I don't know how they managed to destroy the legacy of this IP, but it's terrible.
A great game would be OG Power Of Chaos, with ranked, you buy the game and sell micro transactions and card packs so you don't have to spam play yugi/kaiba/joey for them, but you could. It's such an easy way to make money from this IP, yet they became greedy and decided to turn the game into a meta stuff. I guess it still brings them money.
