Wooden Sen'SeY is a fast-paced action platformer developed by Upper Byte and published by Spawn Digital. Inspired by classic arcade platformers, it places players in a stylized world that merges feudal Japanese influences with imaginative steampunk technology, creating a setting the developers describe as "Japan Steam Rock." The story follows Goro, a determined village chief whose peaceful home is devastated by a ruthless enemy, setting him on a quest filled with danger, revenge, and countless platforming challenges. While the narrative remains relatively straightforward, it provides enough motivation to carry players through an adventure that focuses far more on gameplay mastery than cinematic storytelling. The game's greatest strength lies in its movement and combat systems. Goro's signature twin axes are more than simple melee weapons, serving as versatile tools for traversal and combat alike. Players can slash through enemies, throw the axes at distant targets, and use them to interact with parts of the environment, adding variety to every level. Precision platforming is the heart of the experience, demanding accurate jumps, quick reactions, and careful timing across stages packed with hazards, moving platforms, traps, and enemies. The controls are responsive enough to reward skilled play, making every successful sequence feel earned rather than handed to the player. Fans of old-school platformers will appreciate how the game challenges them to improve through practice instead of relying on forgiving mechanics. The level design consistently introduces fresh ideas to keep progression engaging. Each environment offers unique visual themes and platforming layouts that encourage experimentation with Goro's abilities. Hidden routes and collectibles reward exploration without distracting from the main objective, while the overall pacing balances action and traversal effectively. Beyond the standard campaign, the inclusion of developer time challenges and an extensive Time Attack mode significantly extends the game's longevity. These optional objectives transform familiar stages into tests of efficiency, encouraging players to perfect routes, optimize movement, and compete against increasingly demanding completion times. This focus on replayability gives experienced players a compelling reason to revisit completed levels long after finishing the story. Visually, Wooden Sen'SeY remains appealing thanks to its artistic direction rather than technical complexity. The colorful environments blend traditional Japanese architecture, lush natural landscapes, and elaborate mechanical structures into a distinctive world that feels imaginative from beginning to end. Character models and animations are expressive, giving both heroes and enemies plenty of personality despite the game's relatively simple presentation. The soundtrack complements the action with energetic music that maintains momentum throughout the adventure, while sound effects reinforce the impact of combat and movement. The lighthearted tone helps balance the challenging gameplay, creating an atmosphere that feels adventurous rather than overly serious. Despite its many strengths, the game is not without flaws. Its commitment to old-school difficulty can occasionally become frustrating, especially during lengthy platforming sections where repeated mistakes require players to retry demanding sequences. Some camera angles struggle to keep pace with the fast movement, occasionally making jumps harder than intended. Combat, while satisfying overall, can become repetitive during extended encounters, and the simple storyline rarely develops beyond its initial revenge premise. Players looking for deep character development or complex narrative twists may find the story lacking, but those primarily interested in gameplay will likely consider these shortcomings minor compared to the quality of the platforming mechanics. Ultimately, Wooden Sen'SeY succeeds as a confident tribute to classic action platformers while establishing its own identity through creative world-building, enjoyable traversal mechanics, and rewarding replay value. Its combination of challenging gameplay, imaginative environments, responsive controls, and optional speedrunning content creates an experience that respects player skill and encourages continuous improvement. Although its difficulty may not appeal to everyone, those who enjoy demanding platformers with fast movement and arcade-inspired design will find plenty to appreciate. It is a charming and well-crafted adventure that proves thoughtful level design and satisfying mechanics can remain enjoyable long after a game's original release. Rating: 6/10

It was ok...
Ruim, genérico, sem graça, repetitivo, fluidez ruim.
Wooden sensei whispers mantras through glitches - I’m a happy hostage of his silence and weird artifacts with no save.
Great game by great indie team
Very nice game
