Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

About
Featuring the GRAMMY® Award-winning score by Winifred Phillips!
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is a full 3D remake of the first game in the legendary Wizardry series of RPGs.
The first party-based RPG video game ever released, Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord was a direct inspiration to series like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Digital Eclipse's revival preserves the appeal of the classic, with many upgrades for modern role-playing game fans.
Dungeon Crawling, Deluxe
Craft your own party of adventurers and head into the labyrinth at the behest of the mad overlord Trebor, in search of the amulet stolen by the evil wizard Werdna. Battle groups of challenging enemies, avoid hidden traps, and make your way deeper into the dungeon as you prepare for the ultimate battle: Facing Werdna himself.
Commitment to Accuracy
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is built directly on top of the original 1981 game's code. Although it looks all new, underneath the hood is the authentic game. You can even view the original Apple II interface as you play.
Challenge Without Hassle
While the well-known difficulty of the enemies has not been altered, quality-of-life improvements have been added in every area. Party management, navigation, spellcasting, and combat have all been significantly enhanced.
A Legend Reborn
If you're just discovering the legendary Wizardry franchise, Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is the perfect jumping-in point for new players. Series veterans will love the gorgeous new graphics and sound, and the streamlined interface.

IT WAS FUN PLAYING THE GAME WITH GRAFICS INSTEAD OF YELLOW TYPING ON A APPLE 2 COMPUTER GOOD JOB DEVS NOW DO A COMPLEAT OVER HAUL ON EVERQUEST PLEASE
This is old school, the fresh coat of paint is very nice, but it's not as hard or buggy as some people make it out to be. Dying has a higher cost, and you don't have as many resources to get yourself out of a bad situation. Take that challenge away by playing a little more cautiously than modern RPGs demand and it's really no harder than any other RPG. It's very cool looking back and seeing how influential this game was, like how the naming conventions of all the magic spells influenced the Shin Megami Tensei franchise and such.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Classic nostalgia - played so many of these dungeon crawlers as a kid (pretty sure I played this and other Wizardy games). I imagine i save-scummed back in the day too. For me, this remaster was an Old Murphy's Ghost afk-clicker - but i enjoyed leveling up and fixing my otherwise gimpy party. Too brutally punishing for today, but almost felt like a rouge-like in some ways. Gaming history - must play.
Played this on an Apple II back in the day. First video game I played to the end. Still holds the charm of the original, just updated to run on modern hardware.
Great nostalgia of one of the first games I ever played.
Dont play this game if you are not 400 years old, this game is dookie. 😊
