Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 1 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Within the Backrooms is an atmospheric first-person adventure developed and published by Shattered Display that draws inspiration from the internet's famous Backrooms phenomenon while placing a stronger emphasis on exploration than outright survival horror. Instead of relying on constant scares or fast-paced action, the game immerses players in an unsettling labyrinth of seemingly endless environments where every hallway, room, and hidden passage invites curiosity. The story begins with the protagonist awakening in an unfamiliar place with no explanation, leaving players to uncover the truth behind their surroundings through careful investigation. This minimalist narrative approach fits the mysterious setting well, encouraging players to piece together clues rather than having every answer presented directly. The game's greatest strength lies in its environmental design. Each area successfully captures the eerie feeling of isolation associated with liminal spaces, beginning with the iconic yellow corridors before expanding into entirely different locations such as abandoned malls, forgotten recreational areas, and tranquil yet unsettling pools. Every level introduces a distinct atmosphere while remaining faithful to the surreal tone that defines the experience. Exploration is consistently rewarded with hidden routes, optional discoveries, and collectible items that gradually reveal more about the strange world. Rather than guiding players through a straightforward path, the game encourages wandering, observation, and experimentation, making every new area feel like a genuine discovery. Gameplay centers on environmental puzzles, item collection, and uncovering secrets rather than combat. Progression depends on finding useful objects, including mysterious floppy disks that unlock new opportunities while expanding the game's cryptic narrative. The puzzles are generally accessible without becoming overly simplistic, allowing players to focus on absorbing the atmosphere instead of struggling through frustrating challenges. The slow pacing complements the design philosophy, creating tension through uncertainty and loneliness instead of relying on frequent jump scares or relentless enemies. Players looking for a thoughtful exploration experience will likely appreciate this restrained approach, although those expecting traditional survival horror mechanics may find the gameplay intentionally quiet. One of the game's most distinctive qualities is its visual presentation. Shattered Display embraces a retro aesthetic inspired by classic PlayStation-era graphics, featuring low-polygon environments, pixelated textures, and deliberately nostalgic visual effects. Rather than feeling outdated, these artistic choices reinforce the dreamlike quality of the Backrooms by making every location appear slightly unreal and disconnected from reality. Combined with subtle lighting, ambient environmental sounds, and an understated soundtrack, the presentation creates a lingering sense of unease that remains effective throughout the adventure. The nostalgic visuals also help the game establish its own identity among the growing number of Backrooms-inspired titles that often pursue more realistic graphics. Replay value is enhanced through multiple endings, hidden secrets, and achievements that encourage players to revisit areas and search for details they may have overlooked during an initial playthrough. The environmental storytelling leaves enough ambiguity to inspire interpretation, allowing different players to form their own conclusions about the events taking place. This open-ended design fits the mysterious nature of the Backrooms concept, where unanswered questions often contribute more to the experience than explicit explanations. Within the Backrooms is not without shortcomings. The deliberately slow pace may occasionally make exploration feel repetitive, particularly for players who prefer more dynamic gameplay. Navigation can become disorienting due to the intentionally maze-like layouts, and some puzzles may feel relatively straightforward compared to more complex adventure games. Likewise, the retro graphics, while artistically effective, will not appeal to everyone. However, these elements are largely intentional creative decisions rather than technical weaknesses, and they remain consistent with the game's vision from beginning to end. Overall, Within the Backrooms succeeds as a compelling atmospheric adventure that prioritizes immersion, mystery, and environmental storytelling over conventional horror tropes. Its carefully designed liminal spaces, retro-inspired presentation, satisfying exploration, and subtle narrative create an experience that captures the unsettling fascination of the Backrooms while maintaining its own unique identity. Although it may not satisfy players looking for constant action or intense survival mechanics, it delivers an engaging and memorable journey for fans of psychological exploration, hidden secrets, and slow-burning suspense.
The aesthetic of this game is bizarre, It reminds me of those ancient 3D PC game rendering or like play station 1 graphics, Its hard to describe then dipped the the game in liminal space and I love it, Im addicted to that weird retro uncanny valley aesthetic vibe and this game feeds me straight into the veins It technically has objectives, but the whole point of this game is just wandering around and soaking in the exploration, the maps, the general wtf level art style, and the soundtrack, which is this mix of chill, relaxing, and subtly creepy, just mesh perfectly It’s a pretty short experience, the whole thing in like 2 or 3 hours, but for the price it goes on sale its a decent snack, short and strange, and for people that just wanna vibe in the fever dream Despite the name, calling it backrooms, It leans way harder into that dreamcore/weirdcore, Not b*tch*ng about it, just an observation 7.5/10 would go on this surreal fever dream again
the fantastic (albeit singular) musical track in conjunction with the surreal level design and lofi graphics set this backrooms game apart as one of the most atmospheric liminal experiences one can acquire right now.
