it's cheap peace. The vibrant palette, music and animal friends make for a pretty lighthearted experience. Questionable poo mechanic design choices.

So I really love this game, along with the original Wilderless. What's different from the original is that Meadowfall is littered with windmills, tree swings (awesome) and little houses and barns that you can enter. You can sit in the furniture (one I found even had a bathtub so I took a bath after so much adventuring), turn on lamps, lights, etc, open the wardrobe. I'm still figuring out the gardening system and trying to figure out rivers. I was stalked by a chicken in my first few hours. If you turn on the experimental sky skrall (spelling) you get a giant...long, bug thing that flies around making whale noises and has no regard for personal space. I love the ents, the weird little veggie creatures, I can spend hours just wandering, changing the weather, etc. Since I'm chronically ill, housebound and don't have days where I can or want to do much, this has been a wonderful escape. There are glitches (as there are in a lot of games) like ruins in odd places or barns that are half in a hillside, but I take them as hilarious, surreal and they don't really detract for me. Just be careful if you get to the edge of the world, things can get weird! If you are someone who just doesn't want to deal with online mmorpgs that make you socialize (bristles) or fight or grind but you want to just wander, interact with creatures, collect random stuff and not be bothered except maybe by a random chicken, then I highly recommend this game. It's EVERYTHING I'd been looking for. About the only thing I could suggest is I wish there were more pickups and maybe you could see how many beets or how much poop (yes, there is animal poop) you might have run into.
I love the art style of this game; it reminds me of something right out of Studio Ghibli. It is so beautiful and cozy. The exploration and freedom of movement feel great. The wildlife and fantasy creatures come alive and breathe life into the countryside. Even though it’s geared toward cozy gamers, it’s fun to get startled by a random troll or dragon. Building your garden and little place to call home is satisfying and fun. The animations of the animals and creatures are excellent. The atmospheric effects and lighting are superb. If you like to take screenshots, you’ll love Meadowfell. I like to preview games before I get them for my daughter, and this is a very kid-friendly game. I can’t wait to see where the developers take this game.
I wanted to like this but for a game that bills it's self on exploration and pretty areas there's almost nothing in the game. I got to possess a dragon almost immediately (very cool) but promptly got stuck on a house. There are 3 types of buildings that I saw, a farmhouse, a farmhouse with a barn and a windmill. There are no cosmetic changes to them. They're literally all identical from the outside. Can't recommend this.
How is something so simple made so sloppy? It's just...poorly made. The procedural generation doesn't work well, the character's movement is bad to the point of being unpredictable, and nothing looks good in motion. It's just poorly and carelessly crafted.
I've always wanted to play a game like this, but never knew it existed. There is obviously Firewatch, but there are missions, Journey is nice, although a bit too linear, and The Hunter which you pretty much have to hunt. I just wanted a free world to roam around in that was scenic and majestic. Fast travel and morph into a hot air balloon or the many animals. The earlier release is also nice, but I prefer this one. I'm glad there isn't a story because to be brutally honest most of the stories in video games are corny. Full controller support. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3627651913
This is a lovely world/game. I'm not sure if this is a game in the traditional sense, but it's fun to explore around see everything, similar to games like No Mans Sky (another of my favorites). With some fine tuning of the graphics settings, it looks really great.
