If you're *trying* to accomplish something without dying, e.g. the actual ending, the gameplay is horrendous, takes 30 minutes per mistake, and is just a walking simulator with very little visuals. HOWEVER, the entire rest of the game is near flawless. The way the game immerses you, massively through it's sound/music design, is stunning. The occasional blurry visual makes those scenes feel so eerily important, and everything has such a deep psychological dread feel to it. I have to love it. You have to be very patient to accomplish anything without a guide or map (as you have to draw your own and learn from your own mistakes), but it is an incredible "auditory nightmare", as zeekerss put it.
The game is very fun to explore, and I really love the atmosphere. It is similar to outer wilds in that it is an information metroidvania, but the game plays like a text-based adventure game. Some puzzles can be a bit frustrating, so if you have explored everything and feel stuck it's okay to look up a guide. Also, don't use the in-game map for mapping (I used aseprite for my map)
very cool
