Progression is mainly done through quests, which are tracked in the in-game map and compass. For a game with a vast area like this, it's such a blessing to have the compass track the main quest; you don't have to be afraid of getting lost. You can see some islands as you travel, and a certain-shaped island will always have nothing to collect. While it's a good indicator for you not to explore it, I still prefer to have them have collectibles to reward exploration. I think I found more island that has nothing in them rather than those that are explorable. Luckily, most of the explorable islands are used for either quests or side quests, so you are bound to explore them anyway. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3579719636 The game encourages you to explore, but within limits. Sometimes it's better to wait for a quest before you explore an island since there is a chance that you might have to go to that island again. Exploring an island might net you currency, enemies, and scrapbook collectibles, which help to give you some insight into the in-game lore. Finding all collectibles is not needed to get all achievements, although it would be nice to have an in-game tracker or a feature that can help me find them all. The world is very vast, so it would be very boring to find the leftovers without any help. The area is very vast. Moving from one place to another can take several minutes, which can be boring if you have explored the area. If not, you should be busy with checking the collectibles and currency, although the slow surfing speed might not be that appealing to some people. Your acrobatic skills make exploration more varied. There will be some objects on the path that you can interact with that can make you move faster. Doing these acrobatic things helps to ignore the fact that you need to traverse such a long distance sometimes, and it was fun to do. There was also a quest where you need to finish a track within a time limit. There was a lot of leeway time, and it was fun to do while still not making it too easy to beat. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3584617430 Side quests are tracked. I only realized very late that it tracks where side quests are. Side quests usually require you to find items, and although the game never tells you where the items are, they are usually either around where the quest giver is or close to where you are supposed to go next. It will only track the side quests on the compass if you need to talk to some people to progress it, though. Combat is stiff. You can do a certain combo to your attacks, but since you tend to do 1 vs many battles, your single-target attack might look weak in comparison. Luckily, the game compensates this by giving a health bar that recovers a few minutes after you don't take damage. As a result, you can mash the attack button most of the time to finish the fight. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3579755510 Length and Difficulty I finished the game in 5.8h. The game wasn't hard to beat—you just need to explore the places a lot. As someone who hates playing games with a vast area, this game is still manageable to me. It didn't feel tiring to explore the area since that's how the game was supposed to be played, and the fact that you can skip some areas since they will most likely have nothing to explore helps speed up my playthrough—it would take me too long to explore a certain area and makes me not enjoy the game otherwise.
Conclusion
Exploring the world in Wavetale while listening to the music is really nice. I could relax my mind and wander through the beautiful-looking scenery, and the gameplay variation helps to break the repetitiveness. There are times when I feel bored, but the game's short length makes me tolerate it. If you enjoy exploring a vast area for a long time, this game is for you.

This and every other Pro feature is free until October 20, 2026. A free account is all it takes.
Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is a lot better than I expected, though I had a bad first impresson. The game is capped at 60fps if you have vsync disabled in-game. When you enable vsync it uncaps the framerate. And this game has very poor image quality due to heavy aliasing, but I found that if I reduced the resolution to 1080p it was a lot less of an eyesore and the game became bearable. Aside from those issues, this is a great game. It's very fun to surf around the world, and the story is interesting. The acting is good. The art design is beautiful. There is a lot more to the game than I expected. It ran pretty well, though it crashed once during the 4th timed challenge course. It was manly staying at my maximum fps of 162. It took me about 6.5 hours to finish the game and all achievements, and then about another hour and a half to clean up some optional collectibles that can be ignored, using a youtube guide. I really feel that it's a shame that the presentation of this PC port let down what is otherwise a wonderful game. It just looks pretty bad with all of the aliasing, and it also has a lot of pop-in. These things could have been addressed, they just weren't.
you're fighting off black goop enemies and collecting items requested by rescued characters you meet while opening paths to divided communities by navigating a hazardous environment is Wavetale a strand-type game?
Sinopsis

Feels like an unfinished product or a showcase demo, the game itself feels empty and the gameplay is very repetitive.
Fun action adventure game. The platforming sections are well done. Nice art style, controls are fluid. Felt like I was playing an actually good version of Sonic Frontiers. Buy on sale. Didn't care for Grandma and her dialogue though...very boomer like and passive aggressive, ugh. Some of the dialogue has some of that filler crap that adds nothing to the story but the game is fairly short so I'll give it a pass. Would like to see a bigger sequel with no grandma and better dialogue.
a short, casual 3D platformer focused on traversing a world ravaged by ecological collapse. the music rises as you jump with the rising of the waves and smack around baddies, and it's a lot of fun. wavetale is also, importantly, WAY more politically competent than a lot of similar "cozy" games that touch upon political themes.
the core conflict of the game is resolved in a conciliatory way without excessively "both sides"-ing the issue at hand. conciliation serves the role of resolving the systemic issue at hand, NOT papering it over.
combine that with a compelling personal narrative for the protagonist and her family, and you have a nice, bittersweet little story to play through in one evening.
A great example of the phrase "short and sweet", I really enjoyed my time with Wavetale. The game has great atmosphere with a charming style that runs easily, great movement, and a decent story. It might not blow your mind away with the narrative but there are a ton of great ideas. Only detractions was that the combat isn't anything to write about and sometimes the camera would fight against you. Small nitpicks in the grand scheme of things. Definitely recommend.
100% Achievement Review #18
● Estimated difficulty: 2/10 ● Approximate amount of time to 100%: 4 hours ● Online achievements: no ● Number of missable achievements: none ● Difficulty based achievements: none ● Minimum playthroughs: 1 ● DLC required: no ● Glitched achievements: Notes Wavetale is a simple game which with some more development time could be a lot better, especially when it comes to the surfing mechanic which if it was expanded more and allowed for some sort of skill expression where by doing a certain thing you could go faster, chaining tricks and such could be a lot of fun. Unfortunately it is pretty bare bones and that includes the combat too, which is literally just mashing a single button. The story itself is something you have likely seen many times over, where there is a young main character who the older folk underestimate and look down on because the main character is young and in the end it turns out the young main character was right and they shouldnt have underestimated them. Wavetale simply doesnt leave a lasting impression because the things it does are things you have seen many times over in different media and done better. The last nail in the coffin for me is the asking price, 29,99 euro baseline for at best a 5 hour experience is simply too much, and the length itself is not a problem if the game compensated by a great story or good combat, but this has none of that. The only real positive is that game looks good. Achievement wise the completion is simple, play the story, complete the 4 optional races and talk to the shopkeeper a bunch of times to hear all of his jokes.
