Game basically no longer works on modern hardware
Really Different from the first series of games, but in a good way. You don't control a base anymore, just squads, but the squads level up. I don't know why I never played this until now, but I'm glad I bought it
Really fun and engaging. The storyline is good and being able to unlock new charcters and upgrade them makes it even funner
Great game for its age. Story is top notch. RPG elements make you wanna try different combinations and tactics.
horribly broken on newer pcs, the stuff ive tried as workarounds for it to still not work is ridiculous, would love to see this updated or a version like DoW enhanced.
Even after all these years the game still suffers from graphic issues. No matter what I do I cannot play the game on medium, high or ultra settings at all. Despite having more than the required specs to run the game. The game refuses to change graphics from low to medium, high, or ultra. It is forever stuck on low settings no matter what I do.
Initially sorta fun 40k squad-based RTS. By the end the balance, even on normal difficulty, completely flys out of the window. Massively inflated health pools and one shot boss fights. I'm talking a standard orc squad having around 10x the health of my tankiest troops in terminator armor. And inexplicably the same chaff units doing more damage the later in the game. Levelling up doesn't make you more powerful, it means you barely keep up. Pathfinding is all screwed up too. Try and melee vehicles and your troops spend genuinely over half the time moving out of the way of the vehicle politely while it shoots at them. It's not company of heroes. Its just 40k slapped on a buggy engine not intended for 40k. It has very little merit as a game, if it weren't for the expensive IP slapped on it. If just seeing space marines and bullets do it for you, maybe get it on deep discount and play on Easy. But it's not a game that handles challenge well.
a good game but is not dawn of war..is too small scale and restricting.
The campaign starts off ridiculously easy, to the point where it feels almost mindless. Then suddenly it swings the other way and becomes frustratingly hard, with no smooth difficulty curve in between. It just doesn’t feel well balanced. On top of that, the lack of proper item sorting or inventory management makes everything more annoying than it needs to be. Managing gear quickly turns into a chore instead of something fun. In the end, I stopped playing because I just wasn’t enjoying myself. It felt more frustrating than rewarding, which is a shame because I had high hopes going in.
This game is incredible. I hope the fourth installment is similar... because we don't talk about the third one.
