Title: Gaijin, fix the roof before building a swimming pool in the backyard. War Thunder is starting to feel like a homeowner whose roof is caving into the living room, yet they keep spending all their money building a swimming pool in the backyard (Naval) and a mini-golf course in the basement (Infantry)—all while selling shiny new paintings ($70 copy-paste premiums) to cover up the cracks in the walls. Most players have zero issues with the Premium monetization model itself, but we expect that revenue to be reinvested into the game’s core foundation rather than short-sighted cash grabs. Stop spreading yourselves thin across half-baked side projects and clean up your core gameplay: - Overhaul the outdated control scheme and give us discrete keybinds for radar sub-modes (Boresight/HMD) instead of forcing us through cycling hell. - Fix datalink and IFF logic so a Fox-3 doesn't pull a 45-degree suicidal teamkill on an ally while the player maintains a solid hard-lock on the enemy. - Remove identical clone aircraft across opposing teams in Simulator Battles—it completely ruins the purpose of visual identification and PID. - Deliver genuine BR decompression so older Fox-1 platforms aren't forced to feed agile launch-and-leave Fox-3 opponents. War Thunder has the best flight foundation on the market, but Gaijin keeps sabotaging its own product through dev neglect and a complete lack of quality-of-life improvements. Put the development hours into fixing the leaking roof before the whole house rots away. (Note: The logged Steam hours represent barely a fraction of my actual playtime—the rest was spent through the standalone launcher over years of watching these core issues get ignored).

The new User Agreement is, in my opinion, completely unreasonable. Some of the clauses I am particularly concerned about include, but are not limited to: Restricting players from organizing themselves to challenge Gaijin through legal action, public criticism, or other forms of collective pressure; Restricting players from publicly sharing calls or communications between themselves and Gaijin; Restricting players from expressing dissatisfaction with Gaijin or its moderators in community spaces; Allowing Gaijin to suspend or ban accounts based on the above reasons, or whenever it determines that a player has violated its rules; Allowing Gaijin to obtain personal information from third parties for purposes such as “identity verification.” The last point is especially difficult for me to accept. I do not believe an ordinary video game company needs this level of identity verification simply to allow someone to play its game. At the same time, if the game itself has serious problems, why should players’ ability to criticize, discuss, or express dissatisfaction with those problems be restricted? This is even harder to justify considering that War Thunder already has a large number of long-standing issues that remain unresolved. In Air Battles, only a small number of aircraft are truly competitive or enjoyable at many battle ratings. The game may have a huge number of vehicles on paper, but in actual matchmaking, the number of genuinely viable choices is often very limited. Adding more vehicles has not solved the underlying balance problems. In Ground Battles, the gameplay increasingly feels like a race to get kills as quickly as possible, earn enough spawn points, and then get into an aircraft to bomb ground targets. Ground combat is constantly interrupted by air power, to the point where Ground RB can sometimes feel less like a tank mode and more like a way to earn enough points to spawn a plane. Naval Battles suffer even more from differences in matchmaking and vehicle performance. When you are placed in an unfavorable match, lower-BR ships can have serious difficulty damaging higher-BR opponents at all. Your experience can depend heavily on whether matchmaking puts you at the top or bottom of the BR range. On top of that, the game’s economy continues to push players toward maximizing efficiency through paid content. Research and Silver Lion income are low enough that progressing through tech trees without a premium account or premium vehicles can become painfully slow. Players are faced with increasingly long research grinds while constantly being encouraged to buy premium time, premium vehicles, and other paid content simply to make progression more tolerable. At this point, it no longer feels like the game is merely encouraging players to spend money. It feels more like the game is creating frustration first, and then selling players the solution to that frustration. That is my overall impression of War Thunder in its current state: The balance problems remain unresolved, the gameplay issues are becoming more obvious, the economy continues to put pressure on players, and the new User Agreement appears to further strengthen Gaijin’s control over player accounts, community criticism, and personal information. In its current state, I see very little evidence that the game is moving in a better direction. For that reason, I would not recommend that new players start playing War Thunder right now, and I would not recommend spending significant amounts of money on the game either.
I got a nuke while obscenely high off a 100mg weed soda. I will continue to play but if you're thinking of starting, don't. It's free to play at the cost of your soul

the latest changes to the EULA has shown gaijin doesn't really care how good their product is, they just want a product that will print them money the history has shown a lot of changes are possible only when people organise (which also applies to war thunder) and the latest changes make it much harder for players to organise
Gaijin just doesn't care. As long as they are getting your time/money, they literally do not care what product they put out. I'm convinced the entire purpose of this game is to serve as a recruiting tool for the Russian armed forces. They certainly can't point to any kind of real accomplishment to attract new recruits unless you want to be 1 of 35k/month killed in Ukraine, so they trick kids with ridiculous "realistic" vehicles. Gaijin is easily the worst, most parasitic game developer in existence. They just have no competition and don't care if they make swathes of their lineups unusable because they want to puff up Russian ego.
