This adventure is an absolutely beautiful experience for anyone who appreciates artistic game design. The visuals are incredibly colorful, making every scene a joy to look at while you play. It is described as a cute adventure "made by artists", and that creative passion really shows in the vibrant world they have built. The gameplay offers a relaxing mix of casual puzzles and fun mini games that perfectly balances being a cozy 2D indie title with providing enough clever challenges to keep you engaged. The fact that this is "Free to Play" makes it even better. I would gladly pay to play a game this well crafted. If you are looking for a visually striking puzzle game to unwind with, I highly recommend picking this one up.

A cute little HO game. Artwork is great. Some of the objects you're searching for are truly hidden in plain sight. Some of the puzzles REALLY need an explanation of what you need to do to solve them. I did manage to stumble my way through them and on a couple I'm not sure how I got the solution... but I finished the game so yay? I'm not sure what was going on with the asylum storyline stuff. I found it very distracting and unnecessary. I had the game glitch out on me several times. I'd find objects and click the button to activate it aaaannnddd nothing would happen. Fastest solution for me was to shut it down to the main menu and restart. Putting the game out for free but then only having a chapter to play with the rest of the game is a bit deceptive. Overall, if this type of game is something you enjoy then at the very least load up and give it a try.
Hm, quite a cheeky little dev there, offering an experience that requires a DLC purchase to unlock the full game. For me, the art is great. It looks trippy and interesting. 8/10 However, the story is absolutely comical, made even more so by the use of AI voices. I don't know if this is intended or not (probably is), but you got me both liking it and totally hating it somehow lol. It's both a 1/10 and 7/10 for me due to the sheer randomness of it. Gameplay-wise, I got exactly what I expected. It was indeed a lot of clicking. I was quite surprised with the sudden lore drop between levels, though it's not that deep (I would love to see a darker tone actually, considering the situation we are in) I do wish, however, that the puzzles were more challenging, or at least have certain difficulty modes you can choose from, as some of them are incredibly interesting conceptually, but wayyyy too easy in execution. Some were even fail-proof. Overall gameplay for me: 7/10 All in all, I'm kinda torn. If the whole game is free, I'll definitely recommend it. But in the full game's current state, I would still recommend it, but for those with a job. If you're a jobless minor wanting to fork over some money for games, probably don't get this. There are better options out there. With the price and everything in mind, I'll give it a 6.5/10.
Loved this cute little adventure game. I honestly wish it was longer. I haven't played the DLC but definitely interested!
loved this game
Varenje is a really cute little adventure game that starts with a very simple idea and then takes it somewhere much stranger. I am spending the summer at a cottage when I eat an unknown berry and suddenly become tiny, basically shrinking down to the size of a bug. From there I have to explore this miniature world, meet insects and other creatures, solve puzzles and collect raspberries so I can make the jam that is supposed to return me to normal. I like how silly the story is because the game never needs to take itself too seriously. The hand drawn artwork is easily the strongest part for me. Everything is bright, colourful and full of small details, and the fact that I am tiny makes ordinary parts of the world look completely different. A garden, a stream or a pile of objects can become a whole little environment when I am looking at it from the perspective of a bug. I also like the strange creatures I meet along the way because they make the world feel more like its own little place rather than just a normal garden with some puzzles added to it. The puzzles are mostly based around finding things, combining objects and working out what the characters need from me. There are also several mini games mixed into the adventure, so I am not just clicking through dialogue and searching for objects the entire time. I like the relaxed pace because I can take my time looking around without constantly worrying about combat or a timer. Some of the solutions are quite obvious, while others make me search around the environment for a while before I understand what I am supposed to do. The biggest weakness for me is that the puzzles are not always as satisfying as the presentation. There are moments where I feel like I am solving something properly, but there are also times when I am mostly clicking around until I happen to find the correct item. The game also has some fairly simple mini games that break up the exploration, but they do not always add much depth. I enjoy the atmosphere more than I enjoy the actual puzzle design, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does stop me from putting the game into the higher end of my ratings. The length is another thing I have to consider. Varenje is a short experience, and I can get through the main adventure without needing a huge amount of time. That suits the simple story and relaxed gameplay, but I finish feeling like I would have liked another area or two to explore. There is also a full game expansion available separately, which adds more content, but the base experience still feels more like a small adventure than a huge point and click game. Since the main game is free, though, I am much more forgiving about how limited it is. I also appreciate how much personality is packed into something so small. The music, hand drawn environments and strange insect characters all work together to make the game feel like a little fairy tale. There are 26 achievements as well, so I have some extra reasons to look around carefully and find things I might otherwise miss. I would not say the story is particularly deep, but it does a good job giving me a reason to keep moving forward, and I like the simple goal of collecting enough raspberries to make the jam and get back to normal. Overall, Varenje is a charming little adventure that I think succeeds mainly because of its artwork, atmosphere and unusual setting. I like shrinking down into a tiny world, exploring the garden, meeting strange creatures and working through the puzzles and mini games. The actual puzzle design can be inconsistent and the short length means there is not a huge amount to discover, but the game is still enjoyable because it has so much personality. For me, it works best as a relaxing and colourful adventure that I can finish without a massive time commitment, rather than a deep puzzle game. Rating: 7.5/10
