Vahnora is a free-to-play 2D MMORPG with real-time combat, faction warfare, and a player-driven economy. Pick from 7 classes, capture relics across faction frontlines, climb the endless Infinity Tower, lay siege to the castle every Saturday, and forge your name into the leaderboards.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
About
An ancient world torn by war between two factions — The Sanctum and The Forsaken. Your destiny begins here.
Vahnora is a real-time, top-down 2D MMORPG. Battle legendary monsters, forge powerful gear, climb the Infinity Tower, and fight for control of relics that grant faction-wide buffs.
At level 10 you permanently choose your class at the Class Trainer. Each class brings its own playstyle, two unique active skills, and a distinctive passive.
Warrior — front-line bruiser, raw STR/CON
Archer — ranged DPS with the highest crit and dodge in the game
Mage — fragile but devastating AoE caster, fast cooldowns
Rogue — stealth assassin with burst and crowd control
Cleric — divine support with self-healing and the best CDR
Paladin — heavily armored holy tank with AoE taunts
Berserker — savage rage-fueled DPS, attacks faster the more you kill
Capture seven sacred relics in Mortis Pass and stabilize them to grant your entire faction passive buffs — bonus XP, damage, defense, drops, or PvP advantage. Hold four or more and you achieve Domination: a global announcement and decisive map-wide superiority.
A wave-based endless dungeon. Each floor is harder than the last, with bosses every five floors and tier-rare rune drops climbing with depth. Personal best floor goes on the leaderboard. PvP is disabled inside — pure PvE skill.
Guilds register and battle for control of the Eldora castle. The owning guild earns 500 gold to the treasury every 10 minutes between sieges. PvP is forced on inside the walls — defend the crystal or break it.
Five tier sets from Tarnished to Eternal. Refine equipment up to +12 (with success rates that scale by tier), enchant slots for stat bonuses, and socket runes for fine-tuned builds.
Guilds with member caps that grow with guild XP, custom emblems, and rival declarations
Parties up to 4 members with up to ×2.5 XP and ×1.75 drop rate
Auction House — full player-driven economy with price history and trending items
Pets — collect, summon, and assemble three same-tier pets into a higher tier
Global, local, party, and guild chat channels
Unjustified kills accumulate Chaos Points. The higher your chaos, the heavier the penalties: reduced XP, increased death penalty, and at level 3+ you become open game for the entire server. Play the predator — but expect the world to come for you.
The core game is and will always be free. Optional Crowns purchases unlock cosmetics (auras, titles, chat colors), convenience features (extra character slots, name change tickets), and time-limited boosts. No pay-to-win. No power locked behind a wallet.

Vahnora is an ambitious free-to-play 2D MMORPG that places exploration, character progression, faction rivalry, and player interaction ahead of conventional hand-holding. Developed and published by Vahnora Studios, the game takes an intentionally old-school approach to adventuring, asking players to learn the world through landmarks, maps, environmental clues, and experience rather than constantly following objective markers. This anti-tutorial philosophy gives exploration a stronger sense of discovery, although it can also create a steeper learning curve for players accustomed to modern MMORPGs that clearly explain every mechanic and destination. Character progression offers considerable flexibility while still requiring meaningful decisions. Players eventually choose between seven distinct classes: Warrior, Archer, Mage, Rogue, Cleric, Paladin, and Berserker. These cover familiar MMORPG archetypes ranging from durable melee fighters and tanks to ranged attackers, healers, stealth specialists, and aggressive damage dealers. Active abilities and passive characteristics help each class establish a recognizable role, making character choice relevant to both solo progression and multiplayer encounters. The permanence of class selection encourages players to think carefully about their preferred combat style rather than constantly switching roles. The broader world is shaped heavily by faction competition. Players align themselves with The Sanctum or The Forsaken, with both sides competing over relics located around Mortis Pass. Controlling these objectives provides faction-wide bonuses, including improvements connected to experience, combat effectiveness, item acquisition, and PvP. Capturing enough relics can establish Domination, giving organized players a tangible reason to participate in faction warfare. This is one of the game's more appealing ideas because PvP is connected to the overall progression environment instead of existing purely as an isolated competitive mode. For players more interested in PvE, the Infinity Tower provides an escalating endurance challenge built around increasingly difficult enemy waves. Boss encounters periodically interrupt the regular progression, while deeper floors provide opportunities for better rune rewards. Leaderboard tracking adds a competitive component even when players are not directly fighting each other. It creates a straightforward endgame-style loop in which improving equipment, refining a character build, and understanding combat mechanics can translate into progressively better tower performances. Guild activities further expand the multiplayer side. Castle Siege allows organized groups to compete for control of Eldora castle, with ownership providing economic benefits through accumulated gold. Guild progression, membership expansion, rivalries, custom emblems, parties, and cooperative bonuses provide additional reasons to build relationships rather than treating the game as an entirely solitary RPG. The Auction House complements these systems with player trading, price information, and market trends, giving economically minded players another progression path beyond combat. Equipment development is appropriately extensive for a progression-focused MMORPG. Gear is divided into increasingly valuable tiers and can be refined up to +12, while enchantments and runes provide further opportunities for specialization. Pets introduce another collectible progression system, including the ability to combine creatures to obtain higher-tier companions. Together, these mechanics provide numerous long-term goals, although they can also produce considerable grinding. The effectiveness of this design ultimately depends on balancing drop rates, upgrade resources, refinement probabilities, and the player economy so that advancement feels rewarding rather than exhausting. PvP also contains an interesting deterrent against uncontrolled player killing through the Chaos Point system. Unjustified kills increase Chaos, eventually creating harsher penalties such as reduced experience gains and more severe consequences upon death. Highly chaotic players can become valid targets for the wider community. This allows dangerous player behavior without removing accountability entirely, potentially creating memorable rivalries and emergent stories while discouraging endless harassment of weaker characters. The free-to-play model is another encouraging aspect. Monetization is centered around cosmetics, customization, additional character conveniences, and temporary benefits rather than presenting exclusive high-powered equipment as mandatory purchases. That approach is particularly important for a competitive MMORPG, where aggressive monetization could easily undermine faction battles, PvP, leaderboards, and the economy. The actual long-term fairness will naturally depend on how future convenience items and boosts are balanced. Vahnora remains an Early Access experience, and expectations should reflect that status. Its combination of open-world exploration, seven classes, crafting, PvP, cooperative play, guild warfare, faction objectives, pets, equipment refinement, an Auction House, rankings, and repeatable PvE represents an impressive amount of ambition for a project largely driven by a solo creator. At the same time, such an enormous scope creates obvious challenges involving content quantity, balancing, server stability, interface refinement, navigation, visual consistency, and long-term community population. The underlying ideas are promising, but the experience still has room to mature before reaching the level of polish associated with established MMORPGs. Steam Deck compatibility is currently uncertain rather than officially confirmed as Steam Deck Verified or Playable. The game is officially listed for Windows, and no established Steam Deck compatibility rating is presented. Its relatively lightweight 2D presentation suggests that raw hardware performance should not necessarily be the primary obstacle, but operating-system compatibility, controls, interface behavior, online functionality, and Proton support can affect practical playability. Steam Deck owners should therefore regard it as unsupported or unverified rather than assuming seamless compatibility. Overall, Vahnora offers a surprisingly broad MMORPG framework built around discovery, competition, progression, and community interaction. Its refusal to constantly direct the player gives the world an appealing sense of mystery, while faction warfare, Infinity Tower progression, Castle Siege, equipment development, trading, guilds, and consequential PvP provide several potential long-term pursuits. Its Early Access condition and ambitious scope prevent it from feeling completely polished, but players who appreciate independent MMORPGs, old-school exploration, and persistent multiplayer progression may find plenty worth investigating. Rating: 6/10
