Really cool story, fun adventure and hard bosses (which I like)
The legend of Zelda pero Link es un furro
I can't remember when was the last time that I enjoyed a game so much! This is gorgeous in so many levels especially when you're old enough to get the references to older games from the 8 and 16-bit consoles! I am looking forward to try more games from the developers!
Really fun game mechanics and a really engaging combat. When people say this is like Zelda and Dark Souls, they are correct on that front. Most of problems with Tunic come down to I what considered its main draw, Tunic's unique language (looking it up, its referred to as 'Trunic' so I'll be calling it that from now on.) Browsing through some reviews critical of this feature, a lot of people often lament that they cannot understand it and wished for a sort of 'tool' that translates the text. This is where I have to heavily disagree, my criticism for Trunic is how it's surprisingly optional it is for reasons I'll get into later. Throughout my experience, I was never forced nor challenged to play on the game's terms and learn the language incrementally; instead, most of the required information of where to go, what mechanics you need to learn to beat the game are either shown visually or, shockingly, told to me in plain English. While I am now aware that a lot of the late-game side puzzles require the learning of the Trunic language, by the time I found myself faced with these massive obstacles, I did not have a single idea how to even begin and resorted to looking up guides after I had simply enough. Sadly, from what I've gathered, I have a feeling that this was intentional on the game developers part, to have a community to come together and solve these mysteries which I assume was very fun when Tunic initially released but, nowadays, this just lead me to just looking guides and finding the world feeling foreign and I just don't find that fun. This resulted with me not enjoying a lot of the story, worldbuilding, and characters as much as I could've. I think a lot of indie games have this fear of frustrating the player and leads to the neutering of what would be interesting concepts; I think Tunic is one of these games unfortunately and leaves a fun game with a very dull world.
Completion: True ending (B / Share Your Knowledge), 30/36 achievements Overall Score: 9.5/10

A brilliant adventure that rewards curiosity and understanding
Recommended if you enjoy exploration, clever puzzles, Souls-like elements, cute visuals, or uncovering a surprisingly deep world.

Context
Platform: PC Controls: controller Playtime at review: ~23.8 hours Mode played: single-player

What This Game Is in 2-3 Sentences
TUNIC is a compact action-adventure that initially looks like a cute Zelda-inspired game with some Souls-like combat, but gradually reveals that understanding the game itself is one of its main mechanics. Its collectible manual slowly teaches you about the world, systems, secrets and even mechanics that may have been available to you all along. The core loop: explore interconnected areas, fight enemies and bosses, collect manual pages, solve environmental puzzles and revisit old locations with new knowledge. What makes it interesting/unique: the game constantly rewards observation and understanding rather than simply unlocking new abilities, with the
Golden Path
being an especially brilliant idea.

What Is Especially Good
1) The manual and puzzle design are excellent. Even without translating its fictional language, the pages provide enough visual information to figure out almost everything, and discovering hidden mechanics or connections feels genuinely rewarding. 2) The world is beautifully designed, with strong interconnected areas, shortcuts and secrets that give you reasons to revisit places you already explored. The cute isometric visuals, music and much darker underlying lore also work perfectly together.

What Is Problematic
1) Bosses are considerably harder than normal encounters. Most become manageable once you understand their patterns, but
The Scavenger Boss
felt noticeably overtuned compared to the rest. 2) Some of the very late secrets and remaining achievements are obscure enough that completing absolutely everything will likely require a guide, even if the main true-ending puzzle can be solved naturally without outside help.

Technical State
FPS / stability / loading: completely stable throughout the playthrough Bugs: none

Price / Value / Monetization
Full price: easily worth it On sale: an excellent deal Microtransactions: none

Summary in 2 Sentences
Who I recommend it to: players who enjoy puzzles, exploration, Souls-like elements without the harsher punishment, charming visuals or games with interesting hidden lore and secrets. Who I do not recommend it to: there is surprisingly little the game cannot accommodate, since even players mainly interested in combat can finish through the more direct ending, but those who dislike figuring things out for themselves will miss much of what makes TUNIC special.
