Servers are down more than they up and you go to discord to get some help and that Emily Jennings gal is a complete freak. Would avoid the discord

The mod team are fascists who will make up fictional rules to ban you from the servers (true story). And it doesnt matter that you are one of the most active players. A good game overall, but just for the mod team, I wouldnt reccomend.

The new player experience is terrible. The devs/mods have favorites that can get away with doing anything while the others can't. Game itself isn't bad. Gives you a decent social deduction experience. And the playerbase wasn't as toxic as the reviews suggested.
fun game, servers are always down tho, all role decks on casual suck especially unholy alliance (town traitor modifier sucks) ps: add guardian angel back
this game can have its hype moments, but most of the time its an infuriating lobotomy simulator where town sometimes wins by sheer luck. none of this is purely fun. the 1140 hours gone to waste on his slop game better with friends since you cant be mad at them. i bought this game when it costed money. i'd rather have the keys system even thought that in its self is a capitalistic nightmare. also scrolls dont work and the tome is a scam never buy it. dont give them money imo.
Do not reccomend now-a-days, everybody in it is a sweat, and will just lynch if ur new. everything is different from tos1 and its full of more dense losers. if you are super familiar with ToS1 and have 500+ hours in it, its your type of game.
i love the game and i've played since early tos1. it devastates me to see how poorly the game is doing recently, and makes me concerned that servers are going to be closed eventually. i unfortunately think after BMG sold(?) the ToS franchise to Digital Bandidos, things went from downhill to inevitable. tos1 was one of the original online deception games and it felt like one of the best to play, but of course it was dated and lost many players after a few years of no innovation. when among us became a global hit, production for traitors in salem released in an effort to capture some of that market share; being similar to games like goose goose duck. personally i wasn't a fan of the direction of the (now) franchise so i let it be and watched traitors in salem die alongside many many other deception games. (i think it still has a mobile app) somehow, maybe it was the profit they earned from TiS, BMG decided to make ToS2 which did innovate on the first game and brought many players back for a while. the start of the game had a rocky start with some pretty major concerns about p2w and overmonetization (battlepass, necronomicon, lots of cosmetics), but still retained a large community for the most part. then, BMG partnered DG to have them as their publisher which was received very cautiously. somewhere along the line, DG became the owners of the ToS frachise, just keeping BMG on as advisors. i don't blame BMG for this, they've been working on tos for a long time and have likely grown up and wanted to move on, but i think DG has left tos in an even worse state. i also don't blame the DG employees who genuinely are trying to make the game work with what theyre given but too few updates to the modes that matter and the updates are too slow to keep up with the leaving playerbase. despite going free, the playerbase is around 200 players at the moment and i believe will keep dipping. i wouldn't be surprised if the game isn't making a profit anymore and we see servers closing within a year. i'd love to be proven wrong, but i think its unlikely.
infinite loading screen cant even start the game
I like town of salem, I enjoy social deduction games as a whole. What I don't enjoy is the fact that a game I've brought unlimited games for has been down for far too long with no real end in sight. The staff team are genuinely one of the most unprofessional, delusional, and stuck up teams I've ever seen moderating any game. It's like a group of high schoolers with no maturity who've been given more power than they know what to do with. This is completely ignoring the entire disgusting situation with a previous mod who they allowed in their community for far too long despite the rumoured mountains of evidence brought to them. The reputation this game, the community, and the people in charge have is unfortunately very true and it doesn't take long to see it. Anyways buy my mixtape
