About
*This title can only be purchased as part of a bundle. The price is the same, and the Classic version is included.
Dodge the barrage, defeat enemies, and brave the Scarlet Mist incident.
Touhou Koumakyou - The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, with music and graphics remastered by an older and wiser creator (self-described).

Touhou Koumakyou - the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is a vertical-scrolling 2D shoot-'em-up where you weave through dazzling curtains of bullets.
Take control of the shrine maiden Reimu or the magician Marisa, and set out to resolve the incident threatening Gensokyou. Dodge and slip your way forward through barrages of bullets dense enough to fill the entire screen.
Make full use of each character's unique shots to defeat your enemies—while keeping your life count from dropping to zero under their attacks. Every shot type plays differently: some automatically home in on enemies, while others deliver superior firepower in a head-on assault.
The New Classic edition features upscaled high-resolution graphics, with every track rearranged by ZUN.
It also adds a brand-new mode where you can take on the challenge with unlimited lives.
・Player movement: Move up, down, left, and right.
・Shot: Your standard attack.
・Bomb: A special attack. The type can be chosen during character select, and each has its own characteristics, so pick your favorite and have fun. It's a very powerful attack, but be careful—the number of uses is limited.
・Focus Mode: Slow your movement speed for finer control.
Gamepad button assignments can be changed via the Key Config in the game's Options menu.

Reviews
Clasico de clasicos.

Finally, an official OG Touhou game on Steam. Y'know, the series involving magical girls (ranging from Gods, vampires, fairies etc) that you see all over the internet? This is the first big popular one. I won't lie, I'm not a mega fan or anything, but I've played a few fan translated versions. If there was anywhere best to start, it's probably this one. Or the 7th one. That one's easier. TLDR: A great steam Remaster of a classic. Arcade bullet-hell action with a great soundtrack. As arcade games typically go, it is short, but it's difficulty (4 modes of difficulty and Extra stage btw) and 4 weapon types make it replayable. Give this old gem a spin. Gameplay-wise, it's basically an Arcade Schmup (Shoot 'em up) during stages, and a bullet-hell Danmaku (focused more on dodging) during the boss fights. Of course, as you progress, it gets much harder. Hold the shoot button, shoot everything that moves. Collect red symbol squares for extra bullet power and reach max power. Collect blue symbols for points. Green symbols for Bombs (more rarer). Sometimes 1-Ups (Lives) drop from mini-bosses. Don't touch enemies and their bullets. Simple. During bosses, you'll mostly be focused on dodging their crazy attack "spell" patterns... Most boss attack phases have timers (barring final bosses or other exceptions), so you can either hit their HP to zero or outlast their attack. There's a focus button to slow yourself and help squeeze past bullets. It shows your hitbox in the centre of your character (doesn't show in the OG btw). It also narrow your bullet spread, or changes your weapon entirely (I haven't played Marisa yet lol). When you reach the top of the stage, you vacuum points and powerups--useful and satisfying, but risky. There's also a "graze" mechanic (close calls) for extra points. The Bomb mechanic (idk how common it was in these arcade games back then) makes this game a TON more fun for bullet hell noobs like me. It's basically a get-out-of-jail free card, giving you invulnerability and dishes a ton of damage. There are different types of Bombs (and bullet types) depending on what character/type you pick on game start. So, there's the replayability in gameplay too (I've only played Reimu Weapon A so far). It's not the easiest or the hardest game I've played (especially of this genre) but prepare for some difficulty spikes on Level 4 and 5. They're the most challenging bullet patterns to dodge ("wtf is surfing, waddya mean I gotta tap left and right"), and there will be plenty of moments where you shout "HOW DAFUQ AM I SUPPOSED TO DODGE THAT?!". Welcome to the Danmaku genre. When it gets too hairy, or to a part that makes you groan, USE YOUR BLOODY BOMBS! Bombs restock on death. When you run out of lives, the game gives you Continues (it bars you out of the good endings, but don't worry on your first playthrough anyway). If it gets too annoying, or you got a headache after work and you just wanna listen to some sick bangers, play on Easy mode. These games are hard as balls, there's no shame in it. Ignore the masochist elitists telling you otherwise. Or you could go to the Sound Room. Or Spotify. Or YouTube... hah... Speaking of soundtrack, if somehow you haven't heard, are BANGERS. The whole series is famous for it. The Remastered version of the soundtrack is kinda meh in places, pleasantly good in others (all in my opinion ofc), but the OG is timeless. The setting of letting us put Remastered music or OG is a great decision. If you are so hardcore on the original, the purchase includes the original game too (although its still in Japanese). If you played the game enough though, the game itself is simple enough to understand without knowing Japanese. As of now, the Library Girl in level 4 still kicks my ass (THOSE FKING LASER BEAMS!!) and Level 5 onwards is grueling, but everything before is still fun to play through. Level 3 is my favourite. Please ZUN, release more of the major entries on Steam!! Touhou 8 is my favourite!!!
