This game reminds me of a graphically updated and much more bizarre Haunted House (Atari 2600). Search the mansion for keys, avoid the creepies, and climb as many levels as you can. It's procedurally generated so it's different every time. I don't know if you can actually escape the mansion...the highest I've reached is floor 12. 3 minute montage: https://youtu.be/Mn8ghgixM40
this game is really cool and you should support the dev, there's a lot going on under the hood and i recommend it for price.

Great game play loop akin to a remake of atari's haunted house. If you like procedural generated perma death type games this might be perfect for you.
Good fun
Don't eat for 24hrs before playing
ToruTaru is a game that has been on my radar for a while. A game with a beautiful retro art/unique art style and haunting soundtrack, this really stood out to me and given the price point, I saw no reason not to take a look. Finding out your waifu has gone missing and potentially gone to a mansion they used to frequent as a child, you take a cab from your cosy condominium into the middle of the forest in the middle of the night, deciding you only need to take matches as a light source... Entering the mansion, you soon realise something isn't right. The door slamming behind you, you need to find a key to unlock the door on each floor to keep progressing, finding various friendly and not-so friendly characters along the way. It has a simple, yet addictive gameplay loop, which keeps you coming back. The sound work is outstanding and often sends shivers down my spine. Not just the sound of the creepy creatures in the monster, but the ambience and background noise really add to the atmosphere (sounds of running footsteps, voices, tv's turning on). Given it being procedurally generated, there is an element to RNG to this. Some floors are a straight line that you'll complete in 20 seconds, others are labyrinth's that you'll spend minutes running through, hiding from ghosts, with a sphincter so clenched you can use it as a cigar cutter. This RNG nature is worth flagging, as I can see it frustrating people, but that's the nature of the game, which I love. Some runs go much smoother than others, but restarting and hopping back into the action is only a button press away. The best tip I can give is to KEEP MAKING NOTES on the in-game map. Mark blocked corridors, when you find the exit, mark it too, so you know where to run back to. Also opening the map pauses the game and reduces the music, so you can focus on your next move :) You can walk with the map open, but it does progress the game in slo-mo, so it's not a cheese to explore without getting killed (I tested this and died very slowly as I walked into the ghost next to me). If you like horror games, I'd honestly recommend checking this out. The price point makes it hard not to. I believe only a single person worked on this game?, which makes it even more amazing. Worth noting too is that at the time of writing, it's in early access, but given the price point and what is currently there, I don't think this should put you off. Historically, before patching, this (in my opinion) would've been a game already shipped and moved out of early access! On the topic of food, similar to the black ooze mentioned in game, don't eat for 24hrs before playing, or you too (don't judge me), might find yourself leaking brown sludge. Pro's Unique artstyle Great atmosphere Simple to learn gameplay loop Con's RNG in level generation (a main selling point of the game), might not be to the taste of some, making it seem 'unfair' Can't eat for 24hrs before playing Overall Rating 10/10: BUY IT NOW
A foundation for a great game, it becomes repetitive after a few hours and now I have no interest in ever playing it again. With no progression system or even a leaderboard this game plunges in the realm of the 1000s of other games “potential but abandoned” 3/10 not worth your time.
Definitely underrated, theres a few things i would like to say about this game, first of all its well made and the devs definitely ARENT lying when they say the levels are procedural generated, they definitely are and it adds a whole new aspect to the confusion we love in horror games (and its the good confusion, not the "AHHHH i dont know where im going confusion"). Some levels might take 10 seconds and some might take 10 minutes. The audio is good, it suits this type of pixelated game, however i do wish the spirits had creepier moaning or screaming noises. As for music ? Theres not much but its not really necessary for building tension Where it falls short is that after awhile, its simply not scary, some things might scare you but only very little, although at the start it was pretty scary. Although even though it gets less scary it somehow get more addictive, I found myself running through the endless maze purely out of fun Well done devs, all i can say is keep the horror consistent, maybe: Add chase music Add creepy or scary moans/screams to the spirits Maybe add another gameplay aspect to keep it interesting Crazy idea but maybe add a living enemy that isnt a spirit, maybe a person who has gone crazy after going too long in the endless mansion, could have horrifying potential Overall, well done
