I really enjoyed the story of The Unfamiliars, especially how it explores grief. I liked how the game slowly reveals the character’s life and how things went from seemingly okay to completely miserable. It made me curious about what really happened and kept me playing to piece everything together. My main issue was the lighting. The game is way too dark and the contrast feels too high, to the point that I actually missed some of the jumpscares during gameplay. I even turned up the brightness on my PC, but I still couldn’t see much. I only noticed some of those moments properly while editing the gameplay! Still, I think it’s a good horror game with a story that really stuck with me. I just wish the lighting was a bit easier on the eyes. Overall: 7.5/10 great story, good atmosphere, but please let me SEE the horror. 😂 Gameplay here: https://youtu.be/xyw5DnfXxpU?si=ArACATxJfxRaoD3I
Absolutely Incredible indie horror game. WOW. This dev has struck gold here. The setting, with the rain, the cosy little isolated house, Night Of the Living Dead playing on TV in the background. One of the creepiest things with the NOTLD movie is the glimpsed shots of outside, of how it starts with just one zombie and that is bad enough, but then theres 2, 3 ,4 and so on....the horror just gets worse...that creeping dread, the feeling that death is coming, that there is no escape. Well this game replicates that in its own style. I have never felt as creeped out in a game by just looking out the windows as I did on this one. Like NOTLD - It just gets worse the more you look outside....its hard to explain but this game is a must play for Indie horror fans because of how it nails that creeping dread feeling on its own. Atmosphere and creepiness here is 11/10. Story is mysterious too and you genuinely want to see how it plays out. I'm going through this devs back catalogue after playing this phenomenal little indie horror. Absolute must buy 10/10

This game had a great vibe to it. You can tell a lot of work went into getting that right. Genuinely unsettling and a couple of the jumpscares made me hate the dev. Give it a go and have an extra pair of underwear ready. +1 for the working toilet.
Honestly, this game was great. The atmosphere was creepy as hell and had me feeling uneasy pretty much the whole time. It’s a short game, but it does horror really well and never overstays its welcome. Definitely worth playing.
I absolutely got destroyed by this game. This led me down a path that was NOT at all what I expected. The careful yet blunt storytelling had me hurting deep at the end. I HIGHLY recommend this game. It carries a powerful message. Thank you for making this.
Great horror game, albeit very buggy!
I like MixoNat's work, and have played some of their other games. The vibe and atmosphere of their games is always very good for what you'd expect, and the story in this game was surprisingly real at times, and very interesting! Now, I have to be honest that the game is SUPER buggy, and sometimes incredibly not-helpful in telling you what to do. - First, the game's objectives pop up as small text at the top left of the screen for only a couple seconds. If you miss it, you have no idea what you are remotely supposed to do. - Second, apparently there is a bug at the start of the game where after interacting with the picture frame, the note in the kitchen drawer, and the note in the guest bedroom, the game just doesn't progress and start an emergency broadcast on the TV. That said, apparently the dev is having trouble replicating said bug, which leads me to believe it might be hardware-related. I will submit my specs if it helps decipher. - Third, the game did not progress after the little girl was singing in the guest bedroom and vanished. Again, I had to restart the game to hopefully fix it. - Lastly, some of the interactables in the game are buggy themselves, or incredibly hard to see. Namely the shotgun shells in the fridge didn't allow me to pick them up until I spammed interact. Also, there was a key in the bathroom on the edge of the tub at one point that was INCREDIBLY hard to see if you didn't know you were looking for it. I'm not one to ask for spoon-fed guidance, but there needs to be better telegraphing of what needs to be found/done to progress the game. It is needlessly confusing at times. Overall, I was able to finish the game, and for the price it was good. The bugs are REALLY not good, but I can't fault an indie dev while they're actively trying to fix them. So I will leave a positive review. Hopefully the issues can get ironed out and more people can play it too!
6/10 poor jump scare don't know what to do but its funny good graphics
