For me, this game is not that bad but I got bored quite fast after playing for a bit. - Some of the conversation takes a bit too long. - The character walks too slow. - The plot is okay but story along the way is not that interesting. - The mini game is challenging. I quite enjoy this one just to beat the AI for once (after losing to them about 10 times) So overall, this game is okay for killing time but I don't enjoy the whole game that much.
Good game with an interesting story. Where is Act 2? This can't be the end..please?
Um ótimo point 'n' click, com uma história interessante e personagem bem construídos. Mas por que estou dando nota baixa para esse jogo? Porque provavelmente nunca veremos a parte dois do mesmo...

Too easy for an adventure game and a lot of unrelated conversations that don't end. I did not like it.
If you like point-and-klick adventures and/or pixel art games, please buy The Slaughter Act I. At a discount, full price… both should support the one-man developer team. Yes, it might be that after 10 years we might never get an Act II but maybe if more people buy it (and review it) the developer will finish it. Ef not, I think you still will have around 3 hours of good entertaining fun in a great atmosphere and writing. Also, the developer placed some things in the perspective so that they seem to stand at the edge of the screen where you look “in” which I have never seen before and is kind of neat – and very well done. Yes, the baseline of the story as of the The Slaughter as far as we get to see it in Act I has been told before: A murderer called “The ripper” kills prostitutes in London in the 1880s. You are an out of luck private investigator who gets dragged into the case… but the story told in a fresh way, the character interesting and sympathetic and the dialogue is exellent. So, please give it a try. I think you will enjoy it. Only thing that irritated is something about the movement of the protagonist… I am not sure but as far as I can say, I think his arms are animated too short… which is kind of funny.
For being a single man creation, The Slaughter is a solid effort. There are tons of lower bit count point and click mysteries, but The Slaughter has a fun and humorous edge that titles like The Last Door lack. it's been almost 5 years and life presents it's own set of challenges that may prevent development of Act Two from being a reality. Still, Act One is worth checking whether it permanently sits at a cliff hanger or it continues on in a second game.
As far as made-by-one-person games go, this is one of the absolute best I've come across. Lovingly realised point-and-click adventure with great art, writing & humour. Pretty good puzzles if few and far between. At one or two places I was stumped at was what expected of me to do, or how. Generally more straightforward and realistic than the genre usually tends to be. If you try to pick up a board for example the protaganist will note that it is too big for his pockets. You can't just grab stuff in a shop, you need to pay for items. It was refreshingly grounded in ways. Story was intruiging and I hope for an Act II!
I am writing this review in the hopes the developer sees it. This was an awesome adventure and a great experience to play. Some of the moments made me so uncomfortable in a way other content doesn't, and I am well-versed in games/books/shows revolving around serial killers. The setting, the sounds, the ambiguous nature of the characters, all fit together so nicely. It is also, off the top of my head, the only game I can think of that successfully uses dramatic irony to make some really uncomfortable situations. Though the game is Act One, I don't feel let down by the story arc and am happy I got to experience it (I've also been listening to the soundtrack on loop). To the dev directly: I really hope you get to make Act Two. I'm fully sucked into the story of Sydney Emmerson. Count me among those who would absolutely pre-order/early access/crowdfund in support of the development.
Truly great start and even if it's still unfinished worth buying. Support this guy, he made it on his own and did a wonderful job. Superb soundtrack. It's atmospheric and feels like an adventure game version of Alan Moore's Jack the Ripper story 'From Hell'. 7.5/10
